    Field Officer, Narok Office

    • FSK wishes to recruit a born again Christian, competent, self- motivated, qualified and result oriented person to fill the position of a Field Officer who will be responsible for coordinating the Donkey Welfare programs and taking the lead in curbing the illegal donkey bush slaughter and trade in donkey skin. The officer will be based in FSK Narok Office and will report directly to the Senior Programs Manager.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Implement donkey advocacy and welfare program activities in Kajiado, Narok, Nakuru and Kiambu Counties.
    • Plan and execute the activities as per the work plan in an effective and efficient manner.
    • To identify and establish a multi-stakeholder platform to address the illegal bush donkey slaughter and welfare of donkeys in FSK target areas.
    • Ensure the welfare of donkeys is adhered to especially during movement
    • Work closely with the communities to gather intelligence on the illegal movement and slaughter of donkeys.
    • Work closely with media to sensitize and create awareness on animal welfare and effects of donkey hide trade to community livelihood in line with donor requirements.
    • Participate and collaborate on campaigns involved in various veterinary and social aspects of the community in development.
    • Foster and maintain a cordial working relationship with partners to enhance collaboration on animal welfare and rescue of donkeys.
    • Provide advice and /or training on animal welfare ethics to the community and the public.
    • Work closely with the veterinary departments to ensure compliance on ban of donkey slaughter and trade in donkey hides and skin.
    • Provide accurate progress reports, monthly, quarterly and annual within the required timeframe.
    • Undertake fundraising and proposal developments for veterinary and livestock production work in the target counties.
    • Document all advocacy work implemented by FSK in line with the donor requirements.
    • Provide updates on donkey welfare project monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the donkey welfare project.
    • Any other duty as may be assigned by the management from time to time.

    Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, BSC animal science or any other related discipline.
    • Must be registered and retained with the Kenya Veterinary Board and in possession of a valid practicing license.
    • Two years’ field-based experience in animal welfare advocacy work.
    • Possess strong communication skills.
    • Be innovative, strategic and proactive in resolving complex community needs.
    • Must have experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting skills.
    • Possess competencies in adult learning facilitation, planning and execution of workshop and training activities.
    • Demonstrate partnership-building, networking, collaboration and representations skills.
    • Ability to share hope and the gospel with communities
    • Successful candidate should be able to persuade, motivate and compel support for key ideas and initiatives by delivering clear well- structured presentations to stakeholders.
    • Ability to ride a motorbike will be an added advantage.
