Retail Accountant at Hotpoint Appliances Ltd

The role is responsible for preparing financial reports and maintaining records on the company’s retail and online business performance to facilitate effective decision making within the department (Retail and Online).The role aims to provide timely, accurate and complete data on retail performance. 

The role entails ensuring a robust controls environment and working closely with the Retail, Online, Sales, Marketing, IT and Supply chain teams to provide relevant reports and analysis.

Accountabilities:

Daily banking reconciliation before being submitted to the finance department. This will entail the following:

1. Cash reconciliation
2. Visa receipts reconciliation
3. M-pesa reconciliation
4. All credit modes of payment
5. Gift voucher reconciliation

Spot checks for

1. Petty cash
2. Gift vouchers
3. Floats
4. Cash held in tills
5. Non-stock item codes and corresponding stock adjustment
6. Inventory
7. Prices charged – profit margins
8. Settlement of different credit modes of payment
9. Retail inventory ageing report
10. Review of consignment report
11. Online account reconciliation
12. Reconcile the account
13. Credit notes follow up
14. Payments posted
15. Matching of account is done regularly

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics from an accredited University.
• Membership of a recognized professional accountancy body (e.g. CFA, CPA or ACCA).
• Minimum 4 years’ progressive financial reporting, planning and analysis experience.
• Must have served at least 2 years in an Accountant position, preferably in retail business.
• Experience in working with analytics tools such as BI, Qlik, Business Warehouse e.t.c
