    Senior Manager- Banking

    Job Description

    Essential Skills:

    The ideal candidate should :

    • Take charge of business development within the BFS practice group
    • Oversee the provision of technical support to clients, emphasising top-notch quality and timely delivery.
    • Guide and support junior team members to aid their career growth.
    • Play an active role in organizational advancement by fostering teamwork and maintaining the organization's culture, values, and reputation
    • Generate and share knowledge resources (such as blogs, case studies, research papers, etc.) by identifying pertinent issues, lessons, and best practices from projects across various clients and locations.

    Job Description:

    • The Senior Manager's role entails contributing to MSC's objectives through exemplary client work and supporting the development of their respective Practice Group/Domain. The primary focus is on serving clients by addressing specific project needs. Specialists lead assignments primarily focused on providing technical support within their designated Domain/Practice Group. Additionally, they offer ongoing support and guidance to staff to ensure quality delivery aligned with MSC's approaches and frameworks. They must cultivate deep knowledge and expertise in MSC's core client delivery areas, specializing in specific Practice or Domain work.

    Business Development:

    • Conceptualize programs and secure funding from international development agencies, multilateral, and governments.
    • Lead the conceptualization and proposal drafting for projects aligned with the MSC vision, focusing on enhancing financial, social, and economic inclusion through inclusive banking and financial services.
    • Manage relationships with key stakeholders such as funding partners, clients, policymakers, and government agencies.
    • Contribute to thematic publications based on field experiences, including focus notes, briefing notes, or blogs.
    • Engage in marketing activities and participate in digital media dialogues like blogs and discussion forums.
    • Lead and provide technical support for project design and implementation.

    Develop, lead, and execute technical projects in banking, financial services, and insurance for social, financial, and economic inclusion, including:

    • Strategic review, business planning, and financial modelling for service providers.
    • Product and solution development, pilot testing, rollout, and operational integration.
    • Process re-engineering, digitization, and automation.
    • Design and implementation of alternative channels and technological solutions for digital finance.
    • Digital transformation of service providers.
    • Monitoring and evaluation of inclusive finance projects.
    • Assessment of insurance, micro-pensions, and social security programs.
    • Training and capacity building for participants from service providers in banking, financial services, and insurance.

    Business Execution:

    • Attend project set-up and de-briefing meetings.
    • Take charge of projects and tasks, ensuring timely delivery.
    • Execute projects meticulously, emphasising quality and attention to detail.
    • Present consulting project outcomes to senior client management, policymakers, and government ministries.
    • Review reports and presentations crafted by team members within the practice group.
    • Lead the writing of reports and analysis of data.
    • Establish connections with key client personnel to gather project-related data.
    • Assess delivered training courses, developed curriculum, and provided technical assistance to clients.
    • Contribute to the enhancement of MSC’s tool kits and various publications.

    Professional Development:

    • Perform "Quality of Delivery" (QoD) assessments promptly after completing assignments, adhering to quality control standards.
    • Provide guidance and advice to team members to aid in their professional growth.
    • Enhance the internal capabilities of staff in banking, financial services, and emerging technologies relevant to inclusive finance.
    • Actively pursue self-improvement by acquiring new skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to the organization.

    Requirements

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • MBA or its equivalent
    • Master's degree in Business Administration or comparable qualification.
    • Over a decade of experience in emerging markets with a focus on financial inclusion
    • Comprehensive knowledge of banking and financial services operations
    • Proficiency in credit, savings, enterprise finance, pensions, and insurance
    • Familiarity with data analytics and digital technologies
    • Advanced analytical skills with both quantitative and qualitative research capabilities
    • Outstanding organizational skills, including flexibility and attention to detail, with a proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation abilities
    • Advantageous prior experience in consulting or research
    • Expertise in crafting business proposals and concept papers
    • Deep understanding of banking and financial services
    • Demonstrated enthusiasm for inclusive finance
    • Possession of keen business acumen and strong business analysis skills

    Skills and Competencies:

    • Proficient in leading assignments with diverse project teams and capable of working with minimal supervision.
    • Skilled in cultivating client relationships and securing business opportunities.
    • Capable of designing and executing training programs.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Possesses a strong orientation towards fieldwork with demonstrated interpersonal abilities.
    • Exhibits leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and people-management skills.
    • Demonstrates excellent spoken and written English, especially in documenting the progress of Microfinance programs.

    Any other requirements:

    • Proficient in multitasking
    • Capable of working independently
    • Takes ownership of assignments from start to finish
    • Demonstrates proactive work approach
