The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors. The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs
Access to people in need remains one of the greatest challenges for humanitarian organisations working to reach vulnerable communities. Shrinking humanitarian space and deteriorating security have left many of those most in need with limited or no assistance. Given the operational conditions of highly dynamic security, political and conflict situations, humanitarians are preparing for increasing complexity in reaching the most vulnerable populations in hard to reach areas.NRC aims to expand its access into new areas in the East Africa and Yemen Region to address unmet needs and respond to new emergencies. The goal is to ensure that NRC is present and able to provide assistance in areas with the highest needs.
NRC’s East Africa & Yemen Regional Office is therefore looking for a Regional Access Advisor (RAA) to play a key role in implementing a project on Access and Negotiations across the region. The RAA will drive forward this project which aims to support both field workers and critical decision-makers to improve presence and programming in complex operating environments. The RAA is part of a global project team and is well-suited to individuals who can work independently and take initiative. This is an interesting role and and excellent opportunity to work in one of NRC’s areas of strategic importance.
