    Assistant Director, Corporate Communications

    Job Purpose

    The job holder is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that best communicate the Authority’s mission and Mandate to all stakeholders and general public.

    Job Specification

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:

    • Editing, reviewing and providing support in design, production and distribution of newsletters, annual reports, speeches, publications, website contents, reports and outreach materials;
    • Ensuring compliance with corporate citizenship policies;
    • Developing and disseminating media materials of the Authority;
    • Developing and planning crisis management responses in line with Authority corporate guidelines;
    • Creating and delivering media management strategies for corporate issues;
    • Preparing press material for press releases and publications;
    • Maintaining press and other Authority’s contacts database;
    • Developing and publishing in-house newsletters;
    • Drafting of publications on topical issues;
    • Writing speeches and public reports;
    • Liaising with the public and the media on corporate issues; and
    • Undertaking service delivery surveys.

    Person Specifications

    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have at least:

    • A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in relevant work and at least three (3) years in a supervisory role in the Public Service or in the Private Sector;
    • Master’s Degree in any of the following: - Journalism, Mass Communications, Public Relations or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: - Journalism, Mass Communications, Public Relations or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
    • Full membership from Public Relations Society of Kenya;
    • Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
    • Proficiency in computer applications including knowledge in desktop publishing;
    • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution; and
    • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
