    Assistant Director, Research - 10 Posts

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have;

    • Served for a minimum period of eight (8) years, three (3) of which must have been at the grade of Senior Research Officer, CSG 9 and above or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service;
    • A Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines;- Education, Economics/Statistics, Human Resource Management/Development/Planning, Business Administration, Information Science, Sociology, Political Science/Government Anthropology or any other relevant qualification from a university recognized in Kenya;
    • A Certificate in Research Methods or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution; for those without a research-based degree;
    • Membership to a relevant professional body;
    • Demonstrated professional competence and managerial leadership capability as reflected in work performance and results.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:-

    • Designing research projects and data collection instruments/tools;
    • Coordinating the data collection process;
    • Coordinating development band preparation of work plans and budgets; reviewing and validating proposals, concept/position papers for research and innovation projects;
    • Developing and designing research projects and data collection instruments/tools;
    • Initiating the formulation of research topics and executing surveys; benchmarking on best practices on research and innovation;
    • Leading and coordinating research and innovation project teams; supervising data collation and analysis;
    • Drafting of the criteria for defining categories of innovation;
    • Coordinating sensitization of Ministries and Departments on the submissions of innovation projects;
    • Coordinating the submissions and documentation of innovations;
    • Facilitating development of public service innovation adjudication criteria; facilitating public service adjudication;
    • Overseeing documentation of innovations;
    • Coordinating showcasing of innovations;
    • Preparing research innovation reports;
    • Coordinating dissemination of research reports; and coordinating of stakeholders engagement; and
    • Undertaking monitoring and evaluation of service delivery innovations in Ministries/Departments and Agencies to ensure viable innovations are shared and replicated.
