Design Associate at Poa Internet

Mission Statement for the Role: 

To design research-grounded interventions and solutions that meet user needs. Contribute to developing a culture of co-creation, human-centred design, and iteration within the organisation.

Overall Responsibility: 

Own assigned human-centred design projects, co-create with the Research and Analytics teams to design and measure interventions, co-create with Product and Operational teams to hand interventions for implementation.

• Run usability testing for Poa! share, for the App and ShareBox resulting in recommendations for next steps - Q2 2023
• Create a user interface Kit for Poa! Digital products : Web & Mobile - Q2 2023
• Design training materials for sales and install journeys as implemented in new releases- Q2 2023
• Design infographic around Poa! impact from data provided in report - Q2 2023
• Conduct UXR related activities for CRM Install and Sales redesign workstream - Q3 2023
• Support testing for a digital initiative in a number of schools - Q3 2023
• Map out monitoring process for the Network team and drive problem & solution discovery - Q3 2023
• Run UXR for customer onboarding journey as part of CJM exercise - Q3 2023
• Document test results & UX iteration for the pilot of digital education initiative - Q4 2023

• At least 2 years experience in designing interventions, products or services that are centred on the end user - H
• Experience working in a cross-functional product team - M
• Experience working with internal stakeholders in the co-creation process - H
• Willing and able to get down and grubby on the ground in the areas we operate. Tactical, scrappy, relentless - H
• Comfortable with engaging customers, stakeholders and communities; ability to evaluate user feedback and iterate to optimize user experience and buy in - H
• Ability to identify personal biases and assumptions and continually set them aside during data collection and synthesis - M
• Customer-centric mentality; focused on accurate representation of customer voice no matter the audience - H
• Ability to sketch, create concepts, wireframe, produce user flows, and create clickable prototypes in Figma or other prototyping software - H
• Storytelling, and visual communication skills; the ability to clearly articulate design concepts and learnings to a wider audience - M
• Previous experience in working across low income communities across Kenya to understand user needs, motivations, and context- M

Mandatory Criteria if Any with no exceptions to hire

• At least 2 years experience designing digital products
