Director ECDE at Laikipia County Government

Duties and Responsibilities

Formulating and developing play/learning material and facilitating play/learning activities that will enable children enjoy living and learning through play in ECDE Centers; develop strategies for mobilizing community education fraternity and other government and non-governmental organizations in ECDE programs and coordinating counselling on children’s rights in the county; organize for workshops, seminars and general meetings for ECDE teachers in their respective sub counties with the TSC, Ministry of education and stakeholders; formulate and develop ECDE curricula and material in conjunction with KICD and maintaining professional records; coordinating ECDE programs and teachers professional in the county and inducting new teachers

Requirement for appointment

• Degree in Early Childhood Development and Education or its equivalent and any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution
• Registered by the Teachers Service Commission
• Have relevant knowledge and experience of not less than seven (7) years in a related area within the public service or private Sector three (3) of which should be at supervisory or managerial level
• Have demonstrated thorough understanding of National Goals, Policies and Development Objectives including the Kenya Vision 2030, County Integrated Development Plan and County Strategic Plan
• Have thorough understanding and respect of the diversity within the County
• Satisfy the requirements of the Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya; and
• Have a certificate in Computer application from a recognized institution
• Possession of a Master’s degree will be an added advantage
