    HSE & Internal Sustainability Manager

    Job Purpose

    Responsible for ensuring highest health, safety, and environment standards for conducive, safe and healthy working environment for bank staff, customers, visitors and contractors/suppliers. Spearhead EBKL internal sustainability initiatives by innovating technical solutions that reduce waste, wastage and cutting costs i.e. reduce, reuse and recycling programs, alternative energy use, and water conservation efforts hence to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • To assist the Bank in complying with current occupational, safety and health legislation and regulations with the objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety health and environment of the employees, customers, contractors, suppliers and visitors.
    • To spearhead internal sustainability and sustainable projects within the Bank operations, facilities management and supply chain.
    • Spearhead implementation of EBKL decarbonization plan in the achievement of Net Zero.
    • Baselining of sustainability within the Bank: - business climate impact analysis.
    • Development of sustainability policies in own operations.
    • Data collection, manipulation and reporting
    • Decarbonization practices and sustainable alternatives/initiatives.
    • Sustainability trainings and awareness.
    • Conducting supplier sustainability due diligence and adherence to the Bank sustainability policy.

    Qualifications

    • Academic: Degree in the field of Sustainability/Environmental Management/Science/Engineering or related field
    • Desired work experience: Minimum of 3 - 5 years proven experience in a similar role

    Technical  Competencies:

    • Recognized certification in sustainability
    • Recognized certifications in Health, safety and Environment
    • Knowledge on sustainability reporting e.g GRI
    • Good understanding of OSHA 2007 and related health and Safety legal notices, EMCA 1999 and its regulations, best practice in sustainability
    • IT proficient – MS Office and data analysis
    • Ability to investigate incidents, accidents and near misses.
