    Individual International Consultant - Intergovernmental Fora Specialist

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • The Consultant - Intergovernmental Fora Specialist is expected submit a strategy for proposed methodology of information collection procedures and analysis, in consultation with the Pacific Gender Technical Working Group.
    • This documentation strategy should include a list of content to be used in the literature review.
    • The documentation strategy will be considered as a working document, that is adaptable as needed.
    • Literature review submitted for approval to the Pacific Gender Technical Working Group consisting of current outcome statements and reports relevant to gender equality and women’s empowerment in the Pacific.
    • Produce a draft Briefing Paper in line with the above (bullet 2) - outlining and providing analysis on recent outcome statements and reports from various streams (including the regional and global outcomes documents as noted in the Background/Context of this Terms of Reference), how these align with the revitalized PLGED and 2050 Strategy, linking them with CSW/B+30 and post B+30 work (such as the UNGA). 
    • The Briefing Paper should support the Pacific National Women’s Machineries participation in both the Asia-Pacific Regional Review and also leading up to the CSW69/Beijing+30 in 2025.
    • The Briefing Paper should:
    • Offer members of PICS National Women’s Machinery delegations the opportunity to develop ideas for a coordinated strategy and agreed-upon language and positions for the Asia-Pacific Conference for the B+30 Regional Review.
    • To learn from events in 2023 and 2024 to better prepare a unified Pacific delegation strategy for CSW69 and Beijing+30 in 2025.
    • Make reference to the Pacific Beijing+30 Regional Report.
    • To increase the ability of National Women’s Machinery focal points and civil society to engage substantively and with best effect in the AP Ministerial Conference on the Beijing+30 Review, the Political Declaration to be adopted at the CSW69 in March 2025, and in future policy dialogues on gender equality and women’s empowerment and human rights.
    • Finalize the Briefing Paper, based on feedback from the Pacific Gender Technical Working Group that will be compiled and shared by the UN Women Fiji MCO Gender Coordination Coordinator.

    Education and Certification:

    • Master’s Degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field is required;
    • A first-level university degree with two (2) additional years of progressively responsible experience at the national and/or international level may be accepted in lieu of Master’s degree.

    Experience:

    • At least 7 years (Masters Degree) or 9 years (Bachelors Degree) of demonstrable previous experience in preparing position papers and/or briefing documents and/or similar;
    • Experience in key issues relating to gender equality, women’s empowerment issues in the Pacific, and Pacific regional and global intergovernmental processes would be advantageous;
    • Experience working with the UN System;
    • Demonstrated ability to prepare and draft reports and knowledge products is required (samples of previous work will be required).
    • Computer literacy and ability to effectively use office technology equipment, MS Office.
