    Information Manager – Rapid Response Team

    ROLE PURPOSE: 

    The Global Education Cluster (GEC) provides support to approx. 30 Education Clusters/EiE Working Groups, which collectively coordinate Education in Emergency responses to over 25 million children. The Information Management Specialist will be part of the Rapid Response Team, and responsible for providing direct and remote support to these country coordination groups in Information management, Data analysis and visualization as well as to build the capacity of Country Based Cluster Information Management Officers. The Information Manager will also endeavour to support the GEC Data Analysis/IM Team with compilation and analysis of Global data, including the development of dashboards and visuals.

    This post is deployable for up to 50% of the time. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Essential

    Experience:

    • At least five (5) years of experience in data collection and data analysis, either as part of designing and implementing monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) or data management systems.
    • Proven database maintenance skills and development of information management tools.
    • Technical expertise in visualizing data for reporting purposes and producing interactive maps (PowerBi, ArcGIS and other mapping tools).
    • Applying relevant interagency humanitarian frameworks (e.g., Sphere/INEE Minimum Standards) to humanitarian response plans/strategies.
    • Concrete coordination/coordination support experience.

    Skills:

    • Good interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrable ability to work across different stakeholders taking part in the Education Cluster.
    • Good organizational and planning skills, including ability to manage a number of urgent priorities which arise in humanitarian coordination.
    • Ability to independently and proactively work as a team member with minimum day-to-day oversight.
    • A high level of written and spoken English as well as at least one other core SC/UN language (French/Spanish/Arabic).

    Knowledge:

    • Ability to develop and utilize appropriate methods and tools to support high quality data collection and analysis (e.g., platforms such as KoBo Collect).
    • Proven skills in transforming data to information which is impactful and accessible to different audiences (e.g., knowledge of OCHA standard styles for reporting and graphics; as well as PowerBi, ArcGIS and other relevant mappings).
    • Demonstrated understanding of Education in Emergencies/humanitarian programming, needs assessment, monitoring and reporting.
    • Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of the Cluster approach.

    Other:

    • A commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children and GEC.
    • Written and verbal fluency in English and one of the following additional languages – Spanish, Arabic, French.
    • The ability to travel up to 50% to often remote and insecure environments.
    • Demonstrated commitment to Humanitarian Principlesand the Principles of Partnership
    • Strong interest and motivation for inter-agency coordination.
    • Commitment to uphold an inclusive approach to the work of the EiE Sector; further, an understanding of the four humanitarian principles as well as conflict sensitivity and “do no harm” approaches.
    • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.

    Desirable:

    • Previous experience with the humanitarian program cycle and/or within humanitarian coordination structures.
    • Knowledge of education in emergencies specifically, conducting research, or monitoring and evaluation.
    • Previous leadership in designing and managing data collection efforts across a range of partner organizations.
    • Website development and management, including some level of coding skills.
