We currently have an exciting career opportunity for Lead – Data Scientist within Jubilee Health Insurance Limited. The position holder will report to the Head of Information Technology and will be based at Head Office in Nairobi.

Role Purpose

To drive and spearhead Jubilee’s Health Insurance Data Management and Business Intelligence solutions in the data science and analytics team.

Main Responsibilities

1. Oversee design, development and deployment of the ETL Layer to ensure up to date data is available.
2. Develop, update and manage business reports through BI
3. Supporting the data warehouse in modifying datasets as per requirements.
4. Supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
5. Assessing tests and implementing new or upgraded software and assisting with strategic decisions on new systems.
6. Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes.
7. Undertake pre–processing of structured and unstructured data from different data sources.
8. Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns.
9. Build predictive models and machine–learning algorithms.
10. Combine models through ensemble modelling.
11. Present information using data visualization techniques.
12. Maintain detailed and up to date specialist knowledge of data management techniques and tools and implement within the organization as appropriate.
13. Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges.
14. Collaborate with engineering and product development teams.
15. Providing technical expertise on data storage structures, data mining, and data cleansing.

Functional Skills

1. Data mining techniques using Python, R Programming.
2. Big Data Applications.
3. NoSQL Databases (SysBase, Cassandra, Mongo DB, Couch DB, Apache Hive).
4. Relational Database and SQL Language (PL/SQL).
5. Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL)
6. Data Warehouse Solution Design
7. Dimensional Modeling
8. Analytics / OLAP Cube Development (MDX)
9. Reports & Dashboard Development

Qualifications

1. Degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering or relevant field
2. Professional qualification in technology

Relevant Experience

At least 2 years of relevant experience especially on all stages of project management process (data mining, data analytics, requirements and logical design, physical design, implementation, testing and deployment).
