    Learning & Communications Head

    Key Responsibilities.

    Knowledge Management and Dissemination

    • Manage the state-of-the-art knowledge management system that ensures the accessibility and usability of information for all network members and stakeholders.
    • Develop and implement guidelines and practices for knowledge sharing across the organization, including facilitating peer-to-peer learning sessions.
    • Regularly produce and disseminate knowledge products such as white papers, sector analysis reports, and thematic research summaries that position the organization as a thought leader.

    Learning and Development

    • Design and execute a detailed learning and development plan that addresses the current and future needs of the sector, incorporating the latest practices and technologies.
    • Organize comprehensive training sessions, workshops, and seminars focusing on building capacity in strategic communication, data management, and policy advocacy.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives, using feedback and performance metrics to refine educational offerings.

    Research and Data Analysis

    • Initiate and oversee extensive research projects to explore the impact of philanthropy in the region, utilizing quantitative and qualitative research methods.
    • Analyze complex data sets to identify philanthropy and community development trends, insights, and opportunities. Develop and refine data collection and analysis methodologies to ensure the accuracy and relevance of information.
    • Synthesize research findings into actionable strategies and communicate these to internal and external stakeholders through comprehensive reports, presentations, and policy briefs.

    Strategic Communications Management:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that incorporates traditional and digital media to enhance the visibility and influence of organization’s initiatives.
    • Oversee the creation and distribution of all communications materials, including annual reports, newsletters, press releases, and digital content, ensuring consistency with organization's brand and strategic objectives.
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and adapt as necessary to maximize reach and impact.

    Event Management and Coordination

    • Collaborate with the membership and stakeholder engagement officer to strategically plan and manage organizational convenings, including annual conferences and roundtables, ensuring they provide significant learning and networking opportunities.
    • Collaborate with external experts, academic institutions, and other partners to bring diverse perspectives and expertise to the organization’s convening.
    • Conduct post-convening evaluations to assess outcomes and integrate learnings into future event planning.

    Advocacy and Policy Engagement

    • Lead the organization’s efforts to influence policies and practices that affect the philanthropy sector by utilizing evidence-based research and stakeholder engagement strategies.
    • Develop relationships with key policymakers, sector leaders, and influencers to advance our advocacy objectives.
    • Represent in critical policy forums, advocating for legal and regulatory conditions that favor philanthropic growth and impact.

    Qualifications

    • Master’s degree or higher in Communications, Public Relations, Education, Social Sciences, or a closely related field, with additional certifications in research methodologies or data analysis preferred.
    • At least six years of progressive experience in a senior management role within communications and knowledge management, preferably in the nonprofit sector or a philanthropy-focused organization.
    • Extensive experience in conducting research, managing large data sets, and producing high-level analytical reports.

    • Exceptional communication skills, adept at presenting complex information in clear, persuasive language suitable for various audiences.
