    Medical Officer

    Main Duties

    •  Managing, stabilizing and treating all patients’ minor ailments and emergencies
    •  Assessing the urgency and severity of presenting problems through history taking, examination and investigation
    •  Admitting, discharging and referring to specialists as appropriate
    •  Referring for diagnostic, therapeutic and support services as required
    •  Undertaking clinical and minor procedures in the Accident & Emergency unit
    •  Participating in hospital rounds including fixing cannula, fixing catheters, reviewing patients, etc
    •  Ensuring that all patients coming to A&E department are attended to within reasonable time
    •  Participating in the ambulance Services.
    •  Preparing weekly work/activity plans for review by the Senior Medical Officer
    •  Carrying out patient reviews and providing feedback to the respective consultants.
    •  Monitoring closely morbidity and mortality trends together with all the other health indicators
    •  Participating in primary health care through counseling and outreach programs.
    •  Participating in continuous medical education programs
    •  Carrying out other relevant or requested duties as may be required
    •  Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required
    •  Any other duty assigned

    Required Qualifications for the Position

    •  Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB)
    •  BLS, ACLS & ATLS Training
    •  Computer Proficiency
    •  Minimum 2 years as a Medical Officer
    •  Registered with KMPDC with a valid practicing license
    •  Previous experience in a busy Accident & Emergency unit will be an added advantage
