    Nurse Educator- Peri-OP

    Job Summary

    • Under the direction of the Manager of Education, the Nurse Educator will primarily serve as an Educator but may include being a Mentor, Preceptor, Resource, and Facilitator.
    • These roles will include education and training in varying degrees and will include responsibility for provision of operational support for the department and organization. Education and training will include but are not limited to the following: Orientation, Continuing Education Units, In-services, Rounding, Process Training, Products Training, Customer Service, Compliance, Competencies, Auditing etc.
    • The Nurse Educator will comply with Education and Training as recognized by the Board of Nursing, other governing boards and institutions, the organizations policies and procedures, Federal and State Guidelines, Educational Department Philosophy etc. The Nurse Educator will primarily educate nursing employees but will include other hospital employees, including physicians and the community as deemed necessary.
    • Included in the Nurse Educator's responsibilities are varied projects as allocated by the manager, but not limited to as follows: coordination of clinical placements for Schools of Nursing, , symposiums, forums, assessments, research, data collection, educational assistance with other departments etc.
    • An intricate part of the Nurse Educator's position includes accurate and efficient assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programs and projects as directed by the Manager.
    • The Nurse Educator must research prior to educating and be familiar with NPSGs, SCIP, Core Measures, evidenced-based practice etc. and must be evident in their practice.
    • The expectation of the Nurse Educator is to deliver accurate and useful information that is pertinent to the needs of those being educated and the organization. The ability to work independently and with others is essential in contributing to the department as a place of positive and creative working environment conducive to learning, educating, sharing of relevant information and change towards excellence.
    • The Educator will act as an educational and clinical resource to the Nurse Managers, their staff and other hospital employees.
    • The Nurse Educator will assist in assessment, planning, coordinating, implementing and evaluating programs to meet needs of the staff and the organization as deemed by the Manager. Essential to the Nurse Educator's position includes appropriate and timely communication, the ability to build and maintain respectful and trusting relationships, sharing of pertinent information and possessing team spirit that is shared towards the vision of the department and organizational excellence.

    • The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
    • Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
    • The salary range for this position is $89,000.00 - $149,000.00 (Annual Rate).

    Required Qualifications

    • BSN Degree at minimum.
    • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Combined Experience In Healthcare Industry.
    • Master's prepared in related field (Nursing or Education) and/or Clinical Nurse Specialist.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 1-2 years of experience with a minimum of 1 year in area of related field.
