Occupational Therapist at Tenwek Hospital

Job Description: 

• The job exists to maximize functions and independence in daily living skills through assessment of patients requiring occupational therapy services to improve, regain and develop the skills and to control quality and risk management as they relate to occupational functions incorporating physical, psychological, emotional and social wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct assessment on patients requiring occupational therapy services
• Develop a treatment plan for patient, laying out the types of activities and specific short- and long-term goals.
• Review patient medical history, evaluate the condition and needs by observing patients carrying out a task.
• To help patients to improve, regain and develop the skills needed for day to day life and work through training on ADLS and other functional task.
• Conduct appropriate referrals for patient requires further consultations
• Provide follow up plan for the patients both inpatients and outpatients
• To complete and maintain necessary records for the patients
• Quality control, quality assurance, and risk management as they relate to occupational functions.
• Perform administrative functions within the department including patient appointments, proper preparation and disposition of patient records, etc. 
• Maintain department cleanliness (clean all necessary equipment and counter spaces with appropriate germicidal disinfectant).
• Prepare a weekly order for replenishing supplies.
• Assume other duties as deemed necessary by Department supervisor.
• Be able to display multi-tasking skills/ collaborative/ patient-oriented services   during practices.
• Team builder and provide leadership where needed.
• Participate in outreach programs/ and other spiritual/ compassionate services.
