    Principal Internal Auditor

    Job Specifications
    The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail: -

    • Formulating internal audit policies, strategies and plans; 
    • Implementing internal audit policies, strategies and plans; 
    • Setting up of audit systems in accordance with auditing standards;
    • Implementing audit systems in accordance with auditing standards;
    • Monitoring Agency overall risk profiles;
    • Preparing reports on the Agency overall risk;
    • Supporting various departments in risk profiling;
    • Providing independent assurance on risk management process on both design and operation;
    • Develop Audit Committee Board charter;
    • Preparing internal audit reports;
    • Conducting special audits and investigations; 
    • Testing the efficacy of the risk assessment systems;
    • Reviewing correctness and accuracy of accounting reports;
    • Assuring on risk control effectiveness, efficiency and adequacy and risk management processes;
    • Undertaking physical verification of projects;
    • Undertaking physical inspection of assets;
    • Coordinate external audits;

    Person Specification
    For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

    • Have a minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been at a supervisory position;
    • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, Business Management (Finance and Accounting option) or equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, Business Management (Finance and Accounting option) or equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; 
    • Passed part III of Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (K) or its equivalent qualification;
    • Membership to Institute of Certified Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Institute of Internal Auditor (IIA), Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) or equivalent in good standing;
    • Proficiency in computer application; 
    • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution.

    Method of Application

    • A detailed curriculum vitae, indicating current and previous employers, positions held and with at least three professional referees;
    • Certified copies of academic and professional certificates; and 
    • Certified copy of National Identification card or passport.

    Successful candidates shall be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the 

    • constitution of Kenya on leadership and integrity by submitting clearances certificates from the following institutions:
    • Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Tax Compliance.
    • Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
    • Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Clearance.
    • Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) – Certificate of Good Conduct; and 
    • Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) Certification.
