    Procurement/Buyer Officer

    About the Client:

    Our Client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Procurement/Buyer Officer with a background of working in engineering stores. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and services related to engineering and construction operations. This role requires a strong understanding of procurement processes, vendor management, and knowledge of engineering stores to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.

    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
    • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing, engineering, or construction environment.
    • Proven experience working in engineering stores or similar technical procurement roles.

    Competencies and Skills

    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    • Ability to build and maintain vendor relationships.
    • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
    • Knowledge of procurement software and inventory management systems.
    • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Source and procure materials, tools, equipment, and services related to engineering stores, ensuring compliance with the company’s procurement policies.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
    • Generate purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
    • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and service providers, particularly those related to the engineering and construction sectors.
    • Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery times, and conduct supplier performance reviews.
    • Ensure optimal inventory levels in the stores by conducting regular stock counts, tracking stock movements, and identifying the need for replenishment.
    • Collaborate with storekeepers and other departments to forecast material requirements and maintain accurate inventory records.
    • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products, and potential cost savings in the procurement of engineering and construction materials.
    • Stay updated on industry trends, price fluctuations, and new technologies that may impact procurement strategies.
    • Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to company policies and legal requirements, including quality control, health and safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchases, contracts, and supplier agreements.
    • Work closely with engineering, production, and operations teams to understand procurement needs and ensure materials are available for ongoing projects.
    • Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal teams to resolve issues related to deliveries, quality, and invoices.
    • Monitor budgets and expenditure on materials and services, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
    • Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.
