    Programme Management Officer (Youth Programme Coordinator)

    Responsibilities

    • Oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned youth-related programmes; monitors and analyzes programme development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
    • Performs outreach and communication strategies for programmes and initiatives; integrates youth-related activities and components across campaign workstreams in collaboration with other parts of UNEP.
    • Oversees and guides implementation of the communication plans, ensuring key deliverables are met and proactive and reactive opportunities are being maximized.
    • Maintains relations with current and potential partners in support of communication programmes, campaigns, and initiatives, especially those pertaining to youth engagement.
    • Acts as focal point on youth-related issues, monitoring and reporting on developments, responding to inquiries.
    • Prepares various written outputs, e.g., draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications.
    • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations.
    • Coordinates activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statement) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget).
    • Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Education

    • Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in international relations, communication, public policy, or a related field is required.
    • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
    • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in international relations, programme management, communication or related area is required.
    • At least two (2) years of direct experience in the field of environment is required.
    • At least three (3) years' experience working in an international setting is desirable.
    • Direct experience coordinating youth engagement initiatives is desirable.
    • Experience in event planning, communication, and partner relations is desirable.
