    Programme Specialist - Alliance (P-3), FT, PG Child Protection

    • We are seeking a passionate Child Protection Specialist to join our team and make a meaningful impact in humanitarian settings. Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, you will manage, monitor, and report on grants received by UNICEF for the Alliance for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action. In this role, you will lead the monitoring and evaluation of the Alliance's 2021-2025 Strategy and upcoming initiatives, while also supporting the administration and fundraising efforts of the Alliance Secretariat. Additionally, you will spearhead efforts to address the Climate Crisis and its impact on child protection, fostering collaboration with UNICEF and partner agencies.     • In the realm of programme operation management, the focus is on ensuring the optimal and compliant use of resources, including financial and administrative assets, while adhering to organizational regulations and donor commitments. This includes maintaining comprehensive spending plans, monitoring project finances, and preparing regular reports for management and partners. Additionally, the role involves facilitating the contracting process for consultants and supporting the Alliance Secretariat in developing concept notes and proposals. Partnership building is also key, as it involves creating and managing partnership agreements aligned with UNICEF policies, providing technical support to NGO partners, and fostering relationships to enhance collaboration opportunities.
    • In addition, the role requires leading monitoring and evaluation exercises to assess progress toward the Alliance's strategic goals and to implement a robust Monitoring and Evaluation Framework. This involves planning reviews, preparing evaluation reports, and identifying gaps in the implementation of the Alliance Strategy. The individual is responsible for actively monitoring funded programmes through surveys and collaboration with key stakeholders. Additionally, technical and operational support is provided to implement the Alliance's Strategic Plans, including leading the coordination group on Climate Crisis and Child Protection, coordinating technical experts, and supporting the work planning process of the Alliance Working Group and Task Forces.

    The following minimum requirements:

    • An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field if required.

    Work Experience:

    • A minimum of five years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection related areas is required.

    Desirables/Assets:

    • Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
    • Relevant experience in programme development in child protection related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
    • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is considered as an added advantage..

    Language Requirements:

    • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset..
