Senior Officer, Business Applications (Digital) at Gulf African Bank

Job Purpose:

• The position holder will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing developing and supporting systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support application systems., consult with the systems analyst & with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives.
• The incumbent will also be responsible for writing proposals to describe custom configuration of applications and operating procedures in liaison with 3rd party application development consultants.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to establish project scope, system goals, and requirements
• Develop process solutions and ensuring that all output from the users is consistent, accurate, timely and value-adding and constantly seek feedback from Business owners and key stakeholders as to relevance and value of process deliverables.
• Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of business processes through automating by developing relevant systems.
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures, monitor systems health, gather system statistics, and troubleshoot reported errors
• Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot core business applications, including application servers, endpoints, and databases
• Write technical procedures and documentation for the applications including operations, user guide, etc.
• Assist in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for all new development projects.
• Assist in managing an outsource relationship for 3rd party application development and programming consultants.
• Deliver assigned Projects and Business change requests within time and budget
• Ensure applications operation by training end user and providing support.
• Monitor the usefulness of the new systems and outputs on behalf of users.
• Ensure applications systems periodical processes (EOD, EOM & EOY) are executed promptly
• Ensure business continuity testing is performed regularly
• Provides assistance and advice to business users in the effective use of applications and information technology.
• Serve as key support person in business systems
• Identify and set out user needs for the computer-based systems.
• Monitor the usefulness of the new systems and outputs on behalf of users.

Skills, Experience and Competencies

• A 2nd Upper degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field.
• Minimum B+ in KCSE with strong scores in Mathematics, Quantitative techniques, and logical structures.
• Technical experience with systems programming, databases, Web development with preference to .Net environments.
• Strong project management skills with effective results focus within an information systems environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to be flexible and work hard, both independently and in a team environment, in a high pressure on-call environment with changing priorities
• Experience in: Multiple OS platforms with strong emphasis on Linux
• Analytical skills and Technical Implementation Skills.
• Demonstrable capacity to develop enterprise wise systems using established frameworks
• and architectures through projects executed
• Good communication and presentation skills
