    Statistics Consultant

    Specific tasks and responsibilities

    Under the supervision of the Head of the SDG and Environment Statistics Unit of the Early Warning and Data Analytics Branch of the Early Warning and Assessment Division of UNEP, the consultant will;

    • Develop a statistical guideline that will be based on EGSS approach and will include clear step-by-step recommendations for national statistical offices and other relevant agencies at the national level on what statistics, what data sources are needed to calculate SDG 17.7.1/EGSS indicators (such as production of environmental goods and services) and what actions should be taken during the calculation process.
    • The statistical guideline should also include annexes that list the codes for relevant international statistical classifications, such as the Central Product Classification, the Classification of Environmental Purposes, and other relevant classifications.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • Master's degree in economics or statistics is required.
    • Master's degree in environmental science, data science, information science, or another related field is desirable.
    • At least 10 years of technical experience in Environmental-Economic Accounting at the national, regional or global level is required.
    • Experience in the Environmental Goods and Services Sector is required.
    • Experience working with national statistical offices on data collection/reporting and capacity building in environment statistics is desirable.
