Writer & Editor - Regional at Inkomoko

About the Opportunity

This Writer and Editor will play a critical role in the growth of Inkomoko’s Communications Department dedicated to impactful storytelling and effective communication.  The Writer and Editor will be an active contributor, a creative thinker, action- and solutions-oriented, work closely with other members of Inkomoko’s management team, and manage our content creation and editorial efforts. This position reports directly to the Director of Communications.

Responsibilities

• Create and oversee written copy for various platforms and assets, including collateral, website content, email newsletters, client stories, and impact reports.
• Maintain consistent messaging and style across all written assets to ensure a cohesive brand voice.
• Develop and enforce a comprehensive copy style guide to uphold quality and consistency in all written communications.
• Support the development of messages to effectively communicate our mission and impact.
• Curate and maintain a story bank of client stories and testimonials to highlight our successes and impact.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of proven experience in creating and editing written content, preferably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Strong understanding of content creation for various platforms and audiences.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience working in East Africa or similar regions.
• Background in content marketing, journalism, or communications.
• Proficiency in local languages and cultural understanding of the East African region.
