We work in Bomet County, Kenya, home to 1 million people and one of the most underserved and least resourced areas of the country. Here, 2 out of 3 people don't have clean water, over half dont have safe toilets and children dont have access to basic hygiene education.     WASH Hub Director

    • The WASH Hub Director will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the activities of the Bomet County WASH Hub. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) systems, coordination, MEL and project management. The WASH Hub Director will be responsible for implementing the strategies set out in the Bomet WASH Masterplan, driving institutional strengthening, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Strategic Planning and Implementation:

    • Lead the development and implementation of County wide WASh strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall goals and objectives.
    • Oversee the development and expansion of WASH monitoring and evaluation across Bomet county, working closely with relevant departments and stakeholders.

    Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination:

    • Coordinate with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and information-sharing.
    • Organize and lead High level strategic planning meetings, fostering engagement with senior staff and key NGO stakeholders.

    Capacity Building and Training:

    • Develop and implement targeted training activities for WASH stakeholders, ensuring continuous County-wide improvement in WASH delivery.
    • Facilitate trips to learn from best practices within Kenya and globally, promoting knowledge exchange among WASH practitioners.

    Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:

    • Document approaches, successes, and challenges of WASH Hub activities.
    • Facilitate the production of original research to share findings with partners in Kenya and worldwide, contributing to the global knowledge base on effective WASH interventions.

    Monitoring and Evaluation:

    • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation processes, ensuring data collection aligns with long-term strategic WASH goals.
    • Conduct regular reviews and assessments to measure progress and identify areas for improvement across the county

    PERSON SPECIFICATION

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Water Resources Management, Public Health, Environmental Science, statistics or economics).
    • At least five years’ experience in designing and managing WASH programmes and/or MEL activities
    • Knowledge of Kenyan WASH sector, WASH policies, regulations, and best practices desired.

    Desired Competencies

    • Strong project management and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong track record of managing the collection, management and interpretation of large data sets; including utilising data collection tools such as mWater (or similar) at scale and analysing large data sets using Excel (or similar) to produce key findings.
    • Strong track record of communicating findings from data collection in writing & presentations.
    • Strong track record of networking and influencing senior stakeholders.
    • Strong track record of building a community of practice
    • An ability to think creatively
    • An ability to undertake long-term strategic planning
    • An ability to lead & inspire change across multiple organisations through formal and informal partnerships

    WASH Partnership Director

    • The WASH Partnership Director will play a pivotal role in mobalising the resources required to deliver both Dig Deep’s mission and the Bomet County WASH Masterplan. This position requires a dynamic individual with a strong background in both resource mobalisation and international development. The Partnership Director will be responsible for securing and stewarding long-term relationships with international foundations & trusts and corporate partners.

    Business Development | Trusts & Foundation and Corporate Partners:

    • Lead on the development and stewardship of these critical funding relationships
    • Develop funding pipeline through conducting research to identify suitable funding partners
    • Attend and speak at conferences, technical working groups and other networking events to raise the charity’s profile and build relationships with potential and existing partners
    • Make approaches to identified prospects through a mixture of cold outreach, creating networked introductions, generating referrals and presentations
    • Maintain regular contact with existing trust and foundation partners to further strengthen these relationships
    • Drive the implementation of Results-Based Financing (RBF), climate financing, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) with government partners

    Grant writing:

    • Once suitable opportunities for grant applications have been identified, write high-quality applications leveraging the charity’s expertise & track record of success
    • Liaise with the Programme team to refine and develop programmes where possible to increase the likelihood of securing funding
    • Maintain regular contact with the organisations being applied to steward the grant through relevant application processes

    Programme reporting:

    • Steward existing funding relationships through writing excellent reports on programmes as specified by individual partners
    • Liaise with the Programme team to refine and develop programme reporting where possible to increase the likelihood of repeat funding
    • Maintain regular contact with the organisations being reported to between formal reporting cycles to further strengthen relationships

    Programme communications:

    • Liaise with Programme team to write regular, compelling updates on programmes successes for use on social media and impact reports

    Required Qualifications & Experience

    • Master’s degree in International Development, MBA, Economics, Project Management, or equivalent preferred with basics in accounting
    • At least five years’ experience in mobilising resources/fundraising in the international development context
    • Knowledge of the Kenyan / International WASH sector specifically, or of the wider International Development Sector

    Desired experience:

    • Experience in resource mobilization and developing relationships, including direct experience with donors eg WB, USAID, GAC, UN Agencies, philanthropy organizations

    Desired Competencies

    • Excellent understanding of the needs/requirements of international development funders
    • Strong track record of mobilising resources from trusts & foundations and/or mobilising resources from corporate partners
    • Strong track record of networking and influencing senior stakeholders to mobilise resource
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to persuade through both presentations and written grant application
    • Competency in designing professional-looking presentations and reports
    • An ability to think creatively
    • An ability to undertake long-term strategic planning
