    Mentoring Field Coordinator - Kakuma

    • The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the educational and personal development of scholars, empowering them to reach their full potential while ensuring their safety and well-being.
    • Some of the key roles and responsibilities under the role of Mentoring Field Coordinator (MFC) will include:

    Key Roles And Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and oversee the mentoring programs for secondary school scholarship beneficiaries within Turkana county, prioritizing on the safety and well-being of the scholars.
    • Develop and implement safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the protection of mentees, peer and teacher mentors, and all program participants.
    • Mobilization and recruitment of adequate and model peer and teacher mentors to support the scholars during mentoring engagements and activities.
    • Conduct background checks and thorough vetting of peer and teacher mentors to ensure their suitability for working with vulnerable scholars.
    • Provide training and ongoing support to peer and teacher mentors on delivery of mentoring content and safeguarding practices and protocols.
    • Monitor mentorship relationships to ensure a safe and supportive environment, promptly addressing any concerns or incidents that may arise.
    • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to promote scholar wellness and create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
    • Organize and facilitate wellness activities, workshops, and events to address the social, emotional, and mental well-being of mentees.
    • Support mentees in maintaining academic excellence while developing life skills, self-esteem, resilience, and goal setting through mentoring sessions and group activities.
    • Document and report any safeguarding incidents, concerns, or welfare issues promptly and in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
    • Manage the program activities budgets, ensuring effective and efficient utilization of funds allocated for mentoring activities within the region.
    • Plan and coordinate program-related events, workshops, and activities for beneficiaries in the region and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to secure necessary resources, venues, and materials for successful event implementation.
    • Document success stories, best practices, and lessons learned from the program implementation.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in coordinating mentorship programs or similar youth development initiatives.
    • Strong understanding of mentorship principles, best practices, and ethical considerations.
    • Knowledge and experience in safeguarding practices, child protection, or relevant fields.
    • Familiarity with local laws, regulations, and best practices related to safeguarding and child protection.
    • Understanding of scholar well-being and the ability to implement effective strategies to support their social, emotional, and mental health.
    • Sensitivity to cultural differences and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and maintain professional boundaries.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with scholars, peer and teacher mentors, and other stakeholders.
    • Strong organizational and coordination skills to manage multiple mentorship relationships and activities.
    • Knowledge of the challenges faced by refugee students and their unique educational needs.
    • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
    • Fluency in the local language(s) is highly desirable.

    Officer- Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning

    Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning Officer

    • This is an officer role within the Equity Group Foundation with the candidate working with the program managers but under the supervision of the Manager and Assistant Manager, Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Learning [MERL]. The candidate will be a supportive role in the implementation of the MERL strategy and delivering high standards of monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting requirements and program results across the portfolio. He/She will be responsible for weekly reports to the regional teams.

    Key Duties And Responsibilities

    • Developing appropriate quantitative and qualitative instruments and data analysis plans.
    • Carrying out relevant qualitative and quantitative data analysis tasks and using necessary software where applicable (Nud*IST or NVIVO).
    • Ensuring consistency and quality of analysis.
    • Help teams identify gaps in data collection approaches and data analysis.
    • Generate reports from datasets including data visualization (charts, tables, etc.)
    • Synthesize analyzed data into succinct summaries for including in resulting reports
    • Write data analysis methodology sections for reports in clear, concise and easily comprehensible language.
    • Ensuring that information collected and analyzed by activity teams complies with proposed methodologies and standards.

    Qualifications
    Desired Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences preferably Political science, Statistics, Economics and International Development.
    • At least 2 years’ professional experience conducting quantitative data analysis of large datasets.
    • Proficiency and professional experience with statistical analysis software preferably Excel, SPSS or Stata.
    • Experience conducting background research and synthesizing primary and secondary data.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information.
    • Demonstrated ability to write up statistical analysis, study findings and other types of results in clear, concise and error-free English.

    Scholarship Management Financial Clerk (Dadaab )

    • The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the education of scholars within the region and promoting access to quality education in challenging circumstances with a large pool of beneficiaries emanating from the Dadaab Refugee camps.

    Roles And Responsibilities

    • Oversee and facilitate the selection process of scholarship beneficiaries, including application reviews and interviews within Dadaab camp.
    • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, such as schools, parents, and community leaders, to ensure smooth program implementation.
    • Support beneficiaries in the enrolment process, including school admission and facilitation and access to required educational materials during academic terms.
    • Ensure effective planning, coordination, and execution of program-related events and activities.
    • Document success stories, best practices, and lessons learned from the program implementation.
    • Manage the financial aspects of the scholarship program, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting.
    • Monitor program expenses and ensure adherence to approved budgets and financial guidelines.
    • Prepare accurate financial reports, including expense reports, budget variance analysis, and financial projections.
    • Collaborate with the finance team to maintain accurate financial records, receipts, and supporting documentation within the Data Management and Information System (DMIS).
    • Work closely with program stakeholders to ensure financial transparency and compliance with donor requirements.
    • Provide financial guidance and support to scholarship beneficiaries and their families as needed through provision of the scholarship package.
    • Assist in the development and improvement of financial management systems and processes.
    • Collaborate with program coordinators and other team members to ensure effective implementation of the scholarship program within the region.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial management and reporting, preferably in the nonprofit or humanitarian sector.
    • Strong knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and procedures.
    • Proficiency in financial software and tools, such as Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, or similar applications.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience working in a multicultural and refugee context is highly desirable.
    • Knowledge of donor requirements and grant management is a plus.
    • Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of the local language(s) is an advantage.
