    Sales Director

    Job Role Description

    • The role will be responsible to deliver the P&L, Topline and Bottom-line growth for the Business Operations of the Region through superior Commercial acumen and excellence in operations.     Regional Head of IT, East Africa (RHI EA)

    Job Role Description

    • This is currently the most senior role in the Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) function within the company’s Technology, accountable for IT I&O throughout the organization. The RHI is responsible for the delivery of all IT infrastructure and related IT operations used to enable business capabilities and services across the enterprise and especially EA. Furthermore, the RHI must ensure full compliance on information, IT and cyber security, data protection and governance throughout the company. Currently the role includes acting as CISO and DPO for the company. As a key member of the Senior Technology Leadership team this role contributes to the development and execution of the enterprise-wide IT strategy and is responsible for ensuring I&O strategy is fully aligned, positioning I&O to deliver compelling business value.

    Functions/Key responsibilities

    • Recruit and lead the IT departments in EA setting high standards for IT performance and delivery on a 24/7 basis.
    • Sets the mission, vision, and strategy of the I&O organization to maximize the success of business and IT enterprise initiatives.
    • Introduces innovative, differentiating infrastructure and operations capabilities that enhance our overall competitive capabilities and enhance employee productivity.
    • Works with the IT senior leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources, including budget. Works with key stakeholders to measure and prioritize technical debt remediation.
    • Builds successful stakeholder relationships with other IT and business key stakeholders by developing a clear understanding of business needs, acting as trusted advisor, and ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs.
    • Creates and aligns an I&O value map by linking targeted business outcomes with the future-state business capabilities required to achieve them.
    • Drives alignment of I&O strategies to the organization’s environmental, social and governance goals.
    • Develops and controls the annual I&O budget to ensure that it’s consistent with the overall strategic objectives of IT and the enterprise and is within plan. Creates a culture of continuous cost optimization.
    • Defines, develops, and manages a comprehensive and integrated IT Service Management (ITSM) landscape, based on best-practice processes, disciplines, and related toolsets. This includes delivery of a comprehensive IT asset management program.
    • Collaborates with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to ensure I&O contributes to, embraces, and applies security strategy.
    • Operates a formal governance mechanism to establish and monitor effective controls for the processes and functions performed by I&O teams. Supports periodic reviews by audit teams, compliance teams and other risk-related functions as required.
    • Develops and executes a strategy to improve awareness of the business value that the Infrastructure and Operations function provides, and continuously seeks to ensure alignment to customer needs.
    • Designs and develops a strong and diverse I&O leadership team, together with a reporting structure for the function.
    • Works collaboratively with direct reports to support their career progression, nurture their development and to help them realize their potential.
    • Improves IT resilience by executing strategies that improve reliability, tolerability, and disaster recovery readiness.
    • Keeps track of trends and provides direction on what emerging technologies should be incorporated into I&O products and services to successfully deliver overall IT strategy.
    • Champions I&O involvement in the organization’s innovation efforts and encourages experimentation with new solutions to avail business opportunities.
    • Provides strategic direction and oversight for the full life cycle of IT systems, working in close partnership with peers, and identifies where common approaches, solutions, and shared platforms provided by I&O could drive efficiency.
    • Directs the development of an I&O sourcing strategy and provides executive oversight for strategic vendor and partner relationship management.
    • Works with HR and the IT leadership team to develop and execute workforce plans that ensure I&O can supply skilled resources to meet demand.
    • Develops the maturity of I&O to improve efficiency, deliver new innovations and increase collaboration with other IT and business areas.
    • Drives the adoption of (and commitment towards) service improvements through a programmatic approach to continuous improvement which also measures impact and shares results.
    • Supports the CTO and the rest of the senior Technology leadership team by implementing infrastructure solutions that align to the enterprise architecture framework and roadmap.
    • Serves on IT planning and policymaking committees; drives the development and adoption of enterprise technology standards, governance processes and performance metrics.
    • Continuously evaluates the business value of I&O, including the use of metrics such as Key Performance Indicators, Outcome Driven Metrics and Objectives and Key Results.
    • Collaborates with peer IT Leaders to ensure knowledge and insight can be freely shared.

    • Leading cloud adoption (at scale), including establishing governance mechanisms, delivering migration projects and modifying I&O’s target operating model.
    • Developing governance practices to track and measure the quality of services and maintain service improvement plans.
    • Third-party management, working closely with sourcing and vendor managers.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

    Academic qualifications

    • MSc in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus

    Operations Director

    Job Role Description

    Functions/Key responsibilities
     Strategy Development & Execution

    • Contribute to overall strategy development with a focus on reporting and analytics.
    • Oversee the development of both long term and annual resourcing (people and financing) projections in consultation with Company senior leadership and pillar heads, presenting to and gaining agreement of the Company Board and alignment with their expectations.
    • Establish strong organizational systems, processes and frameworks that enhance organizational effectiveness and efficiency as well as support tactical execution of the strategy.
    • Provide advisory services and act as a sounding board for Head of departments for guidance and support in program and administrative implementation.

    Establishing Systems and Processes
    Governance, and Board Support:

    • Ensure Company Board and Board sub-committee meetings are properly supported with appropriate and timely information and reports.

    Policies, Systems and Procedures:

    • Ensure the development and implementation of policies, systems, procedures and tools that will assure quality delivery and effective impact in areas of responsibility.

    • Ensure the roll-out of new or improved systems/tools (e.g., through communication, training & delegation to staff).

    Risk Management:

    • Oversee the management of risk across Company activities, ensuring development of a comprehensive understanding of Company risks and mitigation strategies.
    • Support relevant outsourced legal and compliance firms in complex and high-risk contract negotiations.
    • Safeguard Company Financial resources by giving due consideration before signing approvals; while ensuring value for money and performance by engaged service providers.

    Procurement and Administration:

    • Monitor compliance of financials with contract terms and ensure financial obligations are settled promptly and are consistent with the contract terms.
    • Oversee all Procurement and contracting procedures including the development of requests for expressions of interest or proposals, evaluation and issue of contracts, purchase orders and where applicable, partnership agreements.
    • Oversee and ensure that all administrative activities are conducted in conformance with policy and best practices.

    Financial management & fundraising

    • Oversee the annual budgeting process and ensure compliance with the budget.
    • Conduct rigorous financial analysis to inform strategy, forecasting and support programmatic decision making.
    • Oversee and participate in Financial due diligence related to financial management.
    • Monitor compliance by Company with the terms and conditions of MoUs/funding contracts and those with the implementing partners.
    • Oversee regular reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual) to the Board and investors and undertake reviews.
    • Facilitate the work of and engagement with external and internal auditors.
    • Ensure that Company Financial management complies with national and international financial regulations; and that financial record keeping will support effective auditing and timely reporting to both the funders and the Board.
    • Support the CEO in taking ownership of all financial reporting to stakeholders/investors.

    People Management

    • Alongside the CEO, build a motivated team that can deliver on Company vision and strategy.
    • Develop recruitment and talent management plans in line with Company strategy.
    • Implement effective remuneration, rewards and benefits, that motivate staff (subject to necessary approvals).
    • Lead the Operations team in a manner that empowers them to deliver excellent support services and maximizes value for money on investment from Company resources.
    • Manage unit culture and employee engagement.
    • Provide effective direct leadership to reports through coaching, mentoring and management of performance.
    • Accountable for the mitigation of all people related risks through appropriate risk management strategies

    Key Capabilities
