    Global Safeguarding and PSHEA Case Adviser

    The Opportunity 

    The Global Safeguarding Unit at Plan International’s Global Hub provides the strategic direction for child and programme participant safeguarding (which includes PSHEA - preventing sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse) interventions. This includes the implementation of our safeguarding and PSHEA policies, our intersectional approach to safeguarding, and the management of reported policy breaches, incidents and concerns.  

    As the Global Safeguarding and PSHEA Case Adviser your primary focus will be on case advisory and supporting the case management of all safeguarding and SHEA cases in the Region of the Americas (ROA) and West and Central Africa (WACA). You will provide professional and sensitive support in a coordinated and accountable way, in line with our policies and best practice, meeting all deadlines and maintaining strict confidentiality.

    The Individual 

    • With previous case management experience in safeguarding and/or SHEA, preferably with experience working with an incident reporting system such as Camms. You will be highly analytical with good attention to detail as well as able to produce high level good quality reports.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to listen empathetically, communicate and negotiate, while taking into account cultural and language differences. You will need to have an in-depth understanding of how gender, age, race and other socio-cultural factors intersect and impact on power, privilege and vulnerability.
    • You will be self-motivated with excellent prioritisation skills and a flexible, resilient approach. The ability to speak and write in Spanish and or French is highly preferable, with the ability to communicate effectively in English essential.  

    TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    Essential

    • safeguarding and or SHEA case management experience
    • Highly analytical/attention to detail
    • Good oral and written communication skills including report writing
    • Ability to produce high level reports
    • Patience, Perseverance, resilience and tenacity
    • A good standard of both written and spoken English, and Spanish. French is also highly desirable.
    • In-depth understanding of how gender, age, race and other socio-cultural factors intersect and impact on power, privilege and vulnerability.
    • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to listen, communicate, negotiate and influence at all levels, taking into account cultural and language differences. and often challenging contexts
    • Ability to have difficult conversations and challenge thinking and current norms within the workplace.
    • Understanding of Plan International’s values and commitment to promoting safeguarding, PSHEA and equality, including gender and race equality, inclusion and girls’ empowerment extends to associates and external partners.
    • Passionate about Safeguarding and PSHEA
    • Diplomatic, approachable, culturally and politically sensitive
    • Empathetic and resilience as will have to deal with very sensitive issues and be involved in interviewing vulnerable subjects.
    • Good time management/organisational skills
    • Holds self and others to account to deliver on agreed goals and standards of behaviour.

    Desirable

    • Experience of working within the development or humanitarian sector and/or complex global organisations

    Project Finance Account Manager

    The Opportunity

    As the Project Finance Account Manager you will contribute to transforming the approach to all the financial aspects of all Plan International Inc. (PIIs) projects (Sponsorship, grants and other funded) ensuring they are well managed, compliant and maximise utilisation of funds to achieve lasting change for children.

    In this role you will be required to work in close partnership with the Global Hub (GH) Projects team and provide support to colleagues in country offices and programme units(in the region you are account manager for) to ensure they are able to fulfil the financial aspects of projects efficiently and effectively in particular to maintain adherence to Plan International grants finance management standards.

    The Individual

    • We are looking to recruit an individual with who is a Part (or fully) qualified chartered accountant, working towards a qualification or with relevant experience.
    • You will need to be customer support orientated, with excellent technical IT and analytical skills: fluency with complex financial system / ERP and advanced Excel skills.
    • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of complex international multi-company, multi-currency organisation accounting challenges.
    • To be successful in this role you will need to be a strong team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate complex technical matters effectively to a non-technical audience.

    TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    Essential

    • Part qualified chartered accountant (fully qualified an advantage)
    • Excellent technical IT and analytical skills: fluency with complex financial system / ERP and very good command of Excel.
    • Knowledge and Experience of complex international multi-company, multi-currency organisation accounting challenges.
    • Communication skills, appropriate to the audience and capability to communicate ideas and technical information to non-technical audiences
    • Able to build networks especially with grants staff across Plan globally
    • Costumer support oriented.
    • Values working in a team and willing to take on more responsibilities and support team members. Flexibility and patience.
    • Strong written and spoken English
    • Able to deliver on time, to work under pressure and prioritise.

    Desirable

    • Knowledge and experience in using SAP and Microsoft Dynamix,
    • Experience of the financial aspects of grant management from institutional donors in an INGO and Knowledge on how financial accounting and grant accounting interact
    • Appreciation of working in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
    • French or Spanish is an added advantage
