    Requirements for Appointment
    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    • Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ of experience in a similar position;
    • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D (Plain) or its approved equivalent from a recognized institution;
    • Valid driving license for any of the classes of vehicles which the candidate is required to drive;
    • Refresher course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week every three (3) years from Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology or any other recognized institution;
    • First Aid Certificate course lasting not less than one (1) week from St. Johns
    • Ambulance or any other recognized institution;
    • Passed suitability test for Drivers Grade III;
    • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service; and
    • Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance.


    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Specific duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-
    • Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling and oil systems, electrical
    • system, tire pressure and brakes;
    • Detecting and report malfunctioning of vehicle systems;
    • Maintaining work ticket;
    • Driving the vehicles as authorized;
    • Carrying out minor mechanical adjustments;
    • Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road;
    • Maintaining safety of the passengers and/or goods therein;
    • Messengerial duties;
    • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle; and
    • Maintenance and servicing of the vehicle as per manufacturer’ schedule.

    Data Protection Laws;

    • Establishment and Maintenance of a register of Data Controllers and Data Processors;
    • Oversight Personal Data Processing Operations in compliance with Data Protection Laws;
    • Conduct periodic audits of the process and systems of Data Controllers and Data Processors to ensure Compliance;
    • Review and advice on Data Protection Impact Assessment Reports in accordance with Section 31 of the Data Protection Act, 2019;
    • Oversee Inspections of Data Controllers and Data Processors on processing of personal data;
    • Ensure compliance in relation to transfer of personal data outside the country in accordance with the Data Protection Laws;
    • Determine the Administrative fines to be imposed for failure to comply with the Data Protection Laws;
    • Provide advice to the Data Commissioner and implementation of inspection and compliance recommendations;
    • Serve as the Chair of the Data Protection Compliance and Enforcement Committee;
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Data Commissioner.

    • Coordinate handling of complaints received from any person on infringement
    • of the rights under the Data Protection Laws;
    • Establish and maintain of up to date register of Complaints;
    • Conduct Investigations on the basis of a compliant made by a data subject or
    • a third party;
    • Issue summons to a witness for the purposes of investigations;
    • Oversee implementation of Administrative fines for failure to comply with Data
    • Protections Laws;
    • Oversee conciliation, mediation and negotiation on disputes;
    • Spearhead the preparation and serving of enforcement and penalty notices;
    • Serve as Secretary to the Dispute Resolution Committee;
    • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Data Commissioner.
