    Humanitarian Advocacy and Policy Lead

    ROLE PURPOSE: 

    Humanitarian response represents roughly half of Save the Children International’s global portfolio. Typically Save responds to circa 100 global humanitarian crises each year. Building our humanitarian affairs, influencing and policy capability is at the core of our strategy to achieve immediate and lasting change for the most deprived children.

    The role holder is responsible for developing the organisation’s advocacy and policy agenda on famine prevention and response with a thematic focus on influencing changes in policy and practice on anticipatory action and the humanitarian-development- peace nexus. The role requires substantial experience of advocacy, campaigns and policy and highly developed research, power analysis and influencing skills.

    This role requires the ability to convene advocacy and programme expertise across humanitarian and development portfolios; define and lead the advocacy agenda on anticipatory action and design an all-context advocacy strategy that influences change for children in the short-term and contributes to transformative change in the sector. The role requires substantial experience of advocacy, campaigns and policy and highly developed research, power analysis and influencing skills.

    The Lead is a member of the Humanitarian Advocacy Working Group and represents HAWG in the Hunger Task Force and Generation Hope Leadership Group. The post-holder works closely with the Anticipatory Action Team and Rights and Reform Team to ensure that advocacy strategies are informed by evidence and learning, reflects organizational priorities and is evidence-based.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    • Senior leadership experience with proven ability to work across a network of international stakeholders to influence changes in policy and practice.
    • Significant experience working directly in humanitarian responses including in complex contexts to design, implement and evaluate advocacy and campaign strategies.
    • Solid experience in management experience driving results and impact, while fostering a supportive and positive work environment
    • Expert level knowledge and analysis of global debates in humanitarian sector and international development, children’s rights specifically in relation to the humanitarian-development-peace nexus and localisation.
    • Proven ability to build relationships with and influence decision-makers and policy specialists, including politicians and donors, and other key actors globally
    • Thorough knowledge and track-record of influencing public and programme policy and advocacy agendas to promote response in line with children’s rights.
    • Excellent networking and experience of building coalitions and working with civil-society actors to achieve change
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to inspire and engage with a wide range of audiences

    Senior Digital and MultiMedia Content Manager

    ROLE PURPOSE:

    To obtain digital and broadcast media coverage for Save the Children globally, in particular highlighting our work supporting children in humanitarian disasters impacted by the climate crises. The role leads digital production and global digital news strategy for the Global Media Unit, producing world-class content (video, photography and edited content) for international media, members, and owned social media channels.

    In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Essential :

    • Experience of project managing complex media outcomes across different outlets and across different countries
    • Experience in multimedia role within a fast paced news environment or similar communications role with 10+ years experience.
    • Experience in working in a complex organizational model, serving and working to multiple stakeholders at once.
    • Experience in project management and or line management of team of multimedia professionals and oversight of production schedules.
    • Experience in living and or working in high risk locations, with a strong understanding of risks and mitigations.
    • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud editing suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects)
    • Knowledge of compressions and working across various digital formats, including optimizing content for social media and online use
    • Excellent knowledge of multimedia trends and innovative ways to reach audiences through audio-visual content on social and traditional news platforms
    • Excellent knowledge of social media and its ability to optimize news coverage and engage news audiences.
    • Proven ability of building social media audiences.
    • Ability to shoot high quality images and video on DSLR (such as 5D, C300)
    • Ability to manage several products at once, managing consultants and working across divisions.
    • Knowledge of key international and child development issues and debates
    • Strong verbal communication skills
    • Strong knowledge of different needs of influential international media outlets
    • Strong relationships with multimedia journalists and outlets
    • Ability to pitch stories persuasively fluent in at least one other international language

    • Self-starter, able to spot media opportunities with a keen eye for a storyline
    • Organised, able to manage and lead on several projects at once
    • Good persuasive skills, working in a collegiate manner across different specialist teams in particular, Global Campaigns, Advocacy and Humanitarian/emergencies
    • Ability to work fast, accurately often in a high pressure environment, handling complex data and issues with confidence
    • Ability to work strategically, planning and prioritizing
    • Genuinely international perspective, with excellent knowledge of global issues and political debates affecting children
    • Ability to travel at short notice, often to developing world countries, and occasionally in difficult working environments
    • Contribute to out of hours’ media rota
    • Ability and willingness to work outside of office hours on occasion, within reason and in response to urgent news needs

    Anticipatory Action Officer

    ROLE PURPOSE: 

    To provide proactive and comprehensive project management, coordination, communications and overall MEAL support to the Global Anticipatory Action team.

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

    Monitoring, Evaluation, Evidence and Learning

    • Take a proactive role in supporting monitoring of anticipatory action initiatives across regions.
    • Maintain global strategy monitoring for anticipatory action and support clarity and communications with relevant stakeholders, including CAFU and Global Strategy team
    • Maintain tracking of AA contributions from Humanitarian Fund and related MEAL
    • Support to specific AA projects as required
    • Take a lead in developing AA learning agenda across Save the Children.

    Support to planning, management and implementation of Anticipatory Action workplan and strategy

    • Support management and development of the Anticipatory Action global workplan, ensuring tasks and deliverables are allocated owners and that resource needs are clear
    • Ensure that deliverables and milestones within the workplan are tracked and achieved and reported against
    • Identify potential tools and systems in order to develop a more effective way of working for the group as needed.
    • Support effective team meetings, including agenda development and pre-read compilation, take and disseminate timely notes, and track/drive progress against follow up action points.
    • Support effective facilitation of meetings to ensure that problems are brought to a conclusion within the allotted time.
    • Follow up on specific tasks as assigned

    Communications, information and stakeholder engagement

    • Develop and implement a communications plan for Anticipatory Action
    • Design and curate SharePoint, OneNet and Workplace pages for the groups, ensuring relevant key documents are easily accessible
    • Develop case studies and information briefs around anticipatory action to support further information dissemination (including for external use)
    • Support a shared understanding of group priorities and deliverables across Save the Children including by maintaining clear channels with relevant stakeholder and governance groups.
    • Arrange and attend regular Anticipatory Action stakeholder information forums/webinars, including pro-actively managing logistics.
    • Carry out any other duties either in addition to or instead of those outlined above which may reasonably be required from time to time.
    • Provide a significant degree of flexibility in out of hours support as and when required.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    • Experience of managing project activities and following through to ensure progress within agreed timeline, preferably in an international NGO environment.
    • Experience in humanitarian settings and ideally supporting
    • Keen interest or experience in Anticipatory Action
    • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, using sound judgement to effectively prioritise multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment

    Global Change Manager

    ROLE PURPOSE: 

    The Global Change Manager sits within the Project and Change Management Team that is part of the Transformation Delivery Department within Save the Children International. This team is responsible for managing the change management activities and deployment of projects into 60 Country and Regional offices and 29 Member organisations. We support different types of Transformation Projects and Programmes relating to Business Process, Organisation and System changes.

    The Technical Expertise (TE) Transformation Project aims to ensure we have the right technical expertise in the right places around the world. We believe that Technical Experts are critical for achieving our Breakthroughs for children. We currently have Technical Experts sitting in Member organizations around the world and we are looking at how we can organize this expertise in the most effective way.

    As the Global Change Manager, you will be responsible for understanding the change needs within the project, including working closely with Members, regions and Country Offices to get their input on the structural design. This role will sit as part of the Project Management team and will be accountable for identifying project stakeholders, impacting change, ensuring the involvement of required stakeholders into the design, defining and managing the change plan and ensuring the deployment is prepared and effectively overseen once we are ready to implement across our Countries and Members.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Essential:

    • Demonstrated experience and capability in change management and supporting the delivery of major projects in regards to business processes and systems within a large and complex international organisation.
    • Experience of working in Feasibility and Design Phases of support systems and business processes projects
    • Demonstrable ability to challenge the user-friendliness of set up, requirements and design for implementation and regular usage

    ProSave (Ariba S2C and P2P) Specialist

    Save the Children International has completed the deployment of Source to Pay (SAP Ariba S2C and P2P) across 56 country and region offices since 2020 where we moved from manual tendering, contract management, supplier management and purchasing processes to online processes.

    Global Head of Gender Equality in Humanitarian

    ROLE PURPOSE: 

    This role is an exciting opportunity for an engaging leader who will provide strong technical direction, inspire innovations and develop new partnerships enabling Save the Children and its partners to support children affected by humanitarian crises. The postholder will lead a team driving improved impact for children affected by emergencies through strengthening Save the Children’s Gender response, approaches and learning and contributing to an improved humanitarian sector for children. In this leadership role, the post-holder will manage a team of technical experts, driving the future of humanitarian programming, ensuring that programs are more localized, driven by partners, diverse, inclusive and led by those affected by crises.

    The post holder will lead the organization in driving program quality and impact in humanitarian gender programming, within the overall sector strategy. Specifically, the post holder will be accountable for (1) developing, implementing, and overseeing the global humanitarian plan and sector strategy; (2) strategic portfolio management and resource mobilization; (3) people management, capacity strengthening and professional developmenl; and (4) sector coordination and internal and exernal representation.
