    Communications and PR Intern

    The Communication and PR Intern will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless coordination, organization, and success of ISK’s communication and public relations initiatives. This role will be reporting to the Communication and PR Assistant.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Establishing, maintaining and control; of ISK brand equity and visual identity.
    • Management and control of all external communication
    • Preparation and placement of ISK press releases, print advertisement and media monitoring
    • Preparations of announcements, including news releases, newsletters and weekly news highlights.
    • Content development for the Institution’s website including regular updates of ISK web pages and addition of links to/from the site.
    • Maintaining the Institution’s clippings and historical files
    • Management of the Institution’s social media
    • Handling all media and public relations for ISK;
    • Managing the Institution’s magazines and an electronic bulletin;
    • Preparing supplements and opinion pieces;
    • Writing news releases, speeches and articles for the CEO;
    • Performing any other lawful duties as may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or its equivalent from a recognized University;
    • IT proficiency in desktop publishing software
    • Excellent use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and graphic design software.

    Training & Examination Intern

    The Training and Examination Intern will have the responsibility of ensuring effective administration, organization, and smooth running of ISK’s training and examination programs. This role will be reporting to Training and Examination Officer.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Assist in drawing up the ISK training and examinations timetables.
    • Coordinate the marketing, administration, preparation and organization of ISK training to members and non-members;
    • Coordinate the ISK Professional Examinations in accordance with the laid down regulations;
    • Manage ISK training including preparing and scheduling training programs; advice on the purchase of training aids and materials; and maintain accurate training records using ISK’s automated systems, forms and procedures.
    • Coordinate the development of training materials as well as ensure continuous review of existing training material and reviewing training performance.
    • Ensuring all training and examination charges and fees are paid as required;
    • Analysing training and examination data for purposes of providing market intelligence to the ISK council;
    • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly plans and reports on Training and Examination;
    • Performing any other lawful duties as may be assigned.

    Qualifications

    • A Degree in Land Surveying or Real Estate or related fields from a recognized University;
    • Current Membership with ISK will be an added advantage;
    • Proficiency in the use of e-learning will be an added advantage;

    Membership Intern

    The Intern will work directly with the membership officer on a matter touching on Institution’s membership recruitment and processing. The ideal candidate is a member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (a person must be a Technician/Graduate/ a student who has graduated and a member of Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) with a desire to become acquainted with how a membership-based organization operates. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist membership officer in maintaining the membership database to make sure all directory information is up to date for both members.
    • Assist in potential new member research – conduct research on various institutions of learning both middle and Universities with a view to recruit potential members Assist in the retention process of individual member accounts.
    • Assist the membership officer in responding to inquiries for more information from prospective members.
    • Assist the membership officer in realizing set ISK work plan objectives
    • Assist membership officer in soliciting member feedback on member’s satisfaction on our services and member benefits.
    • Assist membership officer in creating and presenting weekly and monthly reports on continuous improvement opportunities, member benefits as well as membership applications as contained in the membership portal.
    • Assist in the coordination of member engagement during chapter meetings
    • Assist membership officer in hosting of chapter meetings, follow up with chapter secretaries on pending applications
    • Assist membership officer in follow up on incomplete application forms with a view to having applicants finalize on the applications
    • Assist membership officer in the coordination of chapter meetings and attending them where held physically
    • Administrative tasks and special projects as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Holder of a relevant degree from a university recognized in Kenya.
    • IT certification will be an added advantage

    Key Competencies

    • Ability to handle several tasks in varying stages
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software is required;
    • Proficiency with databases
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Excellent writing skills
