    Research Agronomist - (Pineapple/Mangoes/Avocado)

    THE JOB

    • Reporting to the Senior Research Agronomist, the person will be responsible for: -
    • Studying factors affecting nutrient uptake and utilization by plants: pineapple, mangoes, avocado.
    • Identifying ways in which plants productivity can be enhanced by more efficient use of nutrients.
    • Developing diagnostic tools for rapid detection of nutrient deficiencies.
    • Studying plant water requirements and develop efficient irrigation scheduling tools.
    • Developing field/crop monitoring techniques for soil fertility, plant nutrition, water requirement, plant growth, fruit development and fruit quality.
    • Identifying knowledge gaps and carry out field and laboratory experiments in plant nutrition, soil fertility, plant water requirement, and cultural practices such as planting densities, seed materials, and spacing.
    • Development/improvement of agronomic packages required for optimum pineapple, mangoes, avocado production.
    • Coordinating activities of the analytical chemistry laboratory.
    • Supervising, motivating and training of field workers on experimentation and data collection.
    • Health/safety of the worker, environment, and product.
    • Managing and development/improvement Organic Farming, composting process

    Requirements

    THE PERSON

    • The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements: -

    Essential

    • Experience of 3 years in field research work in a related field.
    • Must have B.Sc. degree in Agronomy, Soil Science, Integrated Soil Fertility Management, or any other related course.
    • Substantial experience in Organic Farming, process of composting, soil fertility, plant nutrition, and integrated soil-plant-water-nutrient management.
    • Experience in irrigation scheduling.
    • Good data utilization and analytical skills.
    • The ability to work meticulously and accurately under pressure of deadlines.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • A flexible approach and an ability to work within a team.
    • Computing skills (experience of word processing, Excel spreadsheet, presentation, and database package).
    • Clean driving license.

    Desirable

    • M.Sc. degree in Soil Science, Integrated Soil Fertility Management, or any other related course.
    • Experience on implementation of the Sustainable farming standard and Global GAP certification requirements at the farm level
    • Experience in chemical analysis

    Beverage Plant Shift Foreman – (PET and Carbonated Soft Drinks Machines)

    THE ROLE: - Beverage Plant Shift Foreman – (PET and Carbonated Soft Drinks Machines)

    • Our client is looking to fill the vacant position of Beverage Plant Shift Foreman in the Production Department. The role will report to the Beverage Plant SDH.

    The ideal candidates should meet the following requirements:-

    • Coordinate packing of cartoned beverage, PET & carbonated soft drink juices and carry out scheduled and preventive maintenance to ensure that equipment’s are running efficiently, and product quality specifications are attained.

    JOB PURPOSE:

    Main accountabilities of the Beverage Plant Shift Foreman will include: -

    • Coordinate toll packing activities
    • Planning, scheduling, coordinating with other sections, supervising production, and ensuring implementation of corrective/preventive maintenance of plant equipment’s with a view to reduce spoilage/wastage.
    • Maintain the plant sanitation and hygiene program.
    • Ensuring the company safety program is maintained and brought to all levels.
    • Ensuring the Company quality standards are met.
    • Training and developing competent subordinate staff and identify individuals with growth potential.
    • Prepare maintenance budget for spare parts and labor.

    REQUIREMENTS: -

    The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements: -

    • Must be Computer Literate.
    • Have a Degree/ Diploma in Mechatronics engineering, Instrumentation and control engineering, mechanical engineering (plant option) or electrical engineering.
    • Able to work and run a shift optimally with minimal equipment downtime & wastages.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and fix TBA fillers (mechanical & electrical faults).
    • Ability to use TBA fillers productivity monitoring software & diagnostics software.
    • Have at least 3-year Practical Working Experience.
    • Trained in food safety standards / HACCP intermediary skills & world class manufacturing systems (Kaizen, lean six sigma, TPMs).
    • Experience in PET and Carbonated soft drinks machines will be an added advantage.
