    Financial Accounting Advisory Services, Manager

    The Opportunity

    Your key responsibilities 

    The successful applicant will help develop and lead a team which can offer our clients advice and hands on assistance with issues such as:

    • Understand the client’s industry and recognize key performance drivers, business trends, and new technical and industry developments
    • Shaping solutions tailored to the needs of our clients
    • Stay informed of new economic developments, accounting standards and their impact on clients

    Client responsibilities

    • Participate in and as required, lead FAAS client engagements

    Qualifications, skills, and experience      

    • A bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of upper second-class honours or its equivalent
    • Professional qualification, such as CPA, ACCA etc
    • Minimum 6- 10 years in assurance or finance controllership roles, including at least 5 years of Financial Accounting and Advisory or audit experience 
    • A minimum overall grade of a B in KCSE and B in both English & Mathematics
    • Expert knowledge of IFRS
    • Extensive hands–on experience in the following areas: 
      • GAAP conversions, training and implementation of new accounting standards
      • Drafting and designing accounting policies  
      • Technical accounting research and advice 
      • Consolidation and compilation support 
      • Financial statement close process support  
      • Transaction accounting and reporting – IPOs, Carve–outs, PPA, etc. 
      • Remediation and readiness 
      • Benchmarking services and market analysis 
      • Advanced data analytics (knowledge of the subject will be a plus)  
    • Strong management skills to lead teams, delegate and manage various projects
    • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client servicing and technical writing skills

    Accounting Compliance and Reporting Senior

    The opportunity

    We are looking for a senior accountant to join our robust ACR team.

    Your key responsibilities

    The work mainly involves working with the ACR team by carrying out the following tasks:-

    Senior Accountant Roles:

    • Ensure clients’ invoices, payments, payroll journals and other financial transactions are booked in Microsoft Business Central accounting software.
    • Ensure prepayments are expensed monthly (rent, insurance etc.)
    • Fixed asset accounting and management (i.e. update fixed assets registers and schedules, depreciation expense, control fixed asset movement).
    • Ensure that required provisions and accruals are captured and posted done in the accounting system.
    • Ensure monthly vendor reconciliations are completed.
    • Create new vendors and customers where required.
    • Preparing regular reports such as trial balance, statements of financial position, financial performance, changes in equity and cash flows.
    • Send out remittance advices when payments are done.
    • Ensure monthly bank reconciliations are done in the accounting system.
    • Ensure necessary accruals & provisions are taken and the schedules updated monthly
    • Perform monthly vendor aging analysis.
    • Prepare month end closing and month end reports for our clients
    • Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs) and the Kenya Companies Act, 2015.
    • Coordinate annual audits on behalf of accounting/bookkeeping clients.
    • Working with clients to come up with required journals to ensure compliance with IFRSs.
    • Support managers and partners in growing EY business such as in drafting potential client’s proposals, billings and debtors’ collections.
    • Supervise and train assistant accountants.
    • Update clients on new and amended financial accounting and reporting standards.

    Senior Payroll Consultant’s roles:

    • Ensuring that all monthly data input is received from clients.
    • Any roll forward data input is captured and back- up taken from the previous month.
    • Ensure that PAYE is computed correctly and in accordance with prevailing tax laws.
    • Ensure that monthly reports are generated and shared with manager for reviews.
    • Send the reviewed payroll reports to client’s contacts on time.
    • Process net salaries on the client’s online banking system accurately and on time
    • Issue pay slips on time.
    • Ensure that the statutory payments are processed as per their due dates
    • File all relevant statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF, NHIF, AHL, HELB and NITA) on or before the due dates.
    • Update clients on changes in regulatory, payroll taxes and statutory social security.
    • Prepare and issue clients fee invoices on a monthly basis.

    To qualify for the role, you must have: -

    • A Bachelor’s degree in either Economics/Business/Finance or a related field with a minimum of upper second-class honours or its equivalent
    • A minimum overall grade of a B and B in both English & Mathematics at Secondary School level
    • Professional qualification in accounting (ACCA, CPA or CA Finalist)
    • SAP/BC18/Navision/Pastel/Quick books Knowledge or its equivalent
    • Computerised accounting skills
    • Proficiency in payroll software packages such as VIP or PaySpace
    • Advanced Excel knowledge and macros
    • Hands on iTax knowledge
    • Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills
    • 5 years hands on experience in monthly management reports, payrolls, annual audit and preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRSs

    Ideally, you’ll also have

    Working experience in Accounting/Finance department for at least 5 years or more with hands on experience with computerized Accounting Systems like ERPs e.g., NAVISION,BC 18, SAGE and payroll computerized payroll systems.

    Financial Reporting Group, Manager

    Job description

    • As Financial Reporting Group Manager, you will be responsible for providing IFRS technical review support to audit teams on general purpose financial statements across the EY East Cluster.
    • The role will also involve managing internal projects relating to technical matters which may include developing training material and coaching of audit teams. You will also be expected to present trainings to staff, managers and partners across the business.
    • The role may also involve taking on client serving responsibilities.
    • Within the IFRS desk, you will be required to build valued relationships with the executives (partners down to managers) of audit teams and also with your internal peers.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    Technical role responsibilities

    • IFRS technical reviews both year end and interim general purpose financial statements
    • Review of IFRS related technical consultations.
    • Facilitating both internal and external IFRS and Sustainability capacity building initiatives (e.g. trainings)
    • Presentation of IFRS papers in various forums.
    • Participation in IFRS and ISQM practical implementation. 
    • Guiding teams and clients on complex IFRS areas and accounting matters.
    • Advising non-audit clients on significant accounting policies, judgements, assumptions and estimates
    • Assist with the development of technical material including:
      • Training material for in person and virtual based training;
      • Enablers, forms and template, guidance, and communications; and
      • Policy updates.
    • Enhance EY’s brand positioning through strong external relationships across a network of external relationships through involvement on Institute of Certified Public Accountant committees as appropriate.

    • Thorough knowledge of current auditing techniques
    • Knowledge and understanding of ISAs
    • Experience of audit process
    • Expert knowledge of IFRS strategies
    • Compliance with regulatory requirements
    • 6 – 8 years post professional qualification experience in an audit environment
    • It is an added advantage to have been in a part time or full time IFRS Desk role in an audit firm.
