    National Coordination Consultant

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities.
    • UN-Habitat is the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system.
    • This consultancy is in UN-Habitat’s Urban Energy Solutions Team / UBSS / GSB / GSD and will be home based. UNEP’s Climate Change Division works with a portfolio of Global Environment Facility (GEF) medium-size and full-size climate change mitigation projects in Africa.
    • The projects, which are in different stages of development (concept, design, implementation, closure), are executed by different partners (Ministries, NGOs, etc.).
    • The Climate Change Division, in its role as implementing agency, provides oversight and ensures adherence to GEF guidelines.
    • Under the supervision of the Lead, Urban Energy Solutions Team, and in coordination with the UNEP Task Manager for Africa for GEF mitigation projects, the consultant will support the International Sustainable Urban Development expert in the development process of the Nairobi Sustainable City (SC) project.

    Responsibilities:

    • The National Coordination Consultant will serve as a focal point to obtain basic information/data, coordinate with local actors and stakeholders and obtain co-financing letters.
    • She/he should also be responsible for organizing the required stakeholder consultation workshops or bilateral meetings.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • An advanced University degree in economics, engineering, urban development, environmental sciences, business, management, or a related discipline is required.
    • A first level degree with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
    • 3 Year Minimum experience in the field of climate change Urban development, environment and/or development project.
    • Experience in working with the Kenyan national government / institutions is required; Experience working with the UN and/or development agencies is a desirable.

    Public Information Consultant

    Duties and Responsibilities.

    • Monthly Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive monthly income acquisition reports by analyzing data on grants acquisition.
    • Contribution Management: Monitor, record, and assess core contribution commitments.
    • Examine receipts of core contributions and coordinate with the finance unit to ensure accurate record-keeping.
    • Coordination with Finance: Coordinate with the finance team to prepare receipts and promptly send acknowledgment letters upon receiving funds.
    • Invoice Creation: Build complete donor invoices as requested, ensuring accuracy and prompt delivery.
    • Donor Communication: Prepare official correspondences to donors to address inquiries, express gratitude, and provide requested information.
    • Grant Compliance: Maintain detailed records of the reporting requirements for active grants, ensuring compliance and proactively resolving any issues that may arise.
    • Donor Engagement Materials: Develop and maintain materials to support key donor engagement and relations, including meeting and technical materials as requested by donors or the supervisor.
    • Database Management: Create and maintain the donor information database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.

    Qualifications/special skills

    • University degree in communications, Data analytics, Information Management, international development or any other related course is required
    • A minimum of 3 years of combined professional experience in the private sector, development organizations, in the areas of client relations, funds / grant management, or above mentioned work areas is required.
    • Proven technical experience in report writing on various topics Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

    Intern - Private Sector Partnerships

    Responsibilities

    • The intern will: Assist in the development of fund-raising strategies and products including contribution agreements
    • Assist in the identification and mapping of key private sector stakeholders
    • Support the management of private partnerships
    • Assist in the increase of donations using online and offline channels including direct mail, internet-based fund-raising and lead generation
    • Supporting fund-raising and communication activities including the development of concept notes, presentations and donor reports
    • Assist in the organization of high profile events for donors
    • Assist in raising awareness of identified private sector partners on the Cities Investment Facility Feasibility Fund

    Qualifications/special skills

    Intern - Project Development

    Responsibilities

    Project Development The intern will:

    • Support the delivery of ideation, feasibility analysis, and project preparation support to sustainable urban development infrastructure projects in the CIF Project Pipeline.
    • Engage with CIF Implementing Partners – global experts delivering project preparation support – to track, monitor and guide the project preparation process.
    • Support and facilitate project assessment, due diligence and bankability assessment processes of projects within the CIF Project Pipeline.
    • Assist in the identification and incorporation of ESG and SDG-oriented analysis and decision support methodologies within the CIF.
    • Assist the development of a Donor Tracker: a database and analysis of relevant investors, and financiers engaged by UN-Habitat, in support of launching a new Feasibility Fund, creating agendas, presentation materials, taking action notes and providing follow-up engagement, for internal UN-Habitat and external Partner meetings.

    Sustainable Finance The intern will:

    • Liaise with current and potential partners in the areas of commercial and private investment and developing project pipelines.
    • Support the development of partnership agreements: including memorandums of understanding, budgets, work plans, marketing collateral and other relevant materials for CIF relationships with partners as required.
    • Contribute to developing and operationalizing CIF's strategy, roadmap and business model.
    • Assist with developing a database and analysis of relevant donors, investors and financiers who can support the work of UN-Habitat and CIF.

    Intern - Graphic Design

    Responsibilities

    The intern will:

    • Conceptualize visuals based on ideas from Communications and Project teams to develop graphs, infographics, and graphics
    • Design marketing collateral e.g., newsletters, brochure covers, posters, social cards that fit CIF brand guidelines
    • Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages
    • Ensure that the Brand is always executed in a consistent manner across all marketing collateral
    • Design electronic invitations and event related collateral
    • Support social media campaigns
    • Coordinate the production of short-form videos for use on social media
    • Conduct basic research on target audience to inform design work
