    Senior Engineer, Network Operations Support

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Infrastructure Support the position holder will be responsible for providing technical support for operations and maintenance of solar energy installations on Safaricom BTS, MSR and data center sites by ensuring the maintenance service providers have appropriate kits, carrying out regular cleaning of the solar panels and replace faulty parts in time to ensure optimal generation of solar energy. 

    Responsibilities

    Network Operations Support

    • Support general operations and maintenance of solar energy installations on Safaricom BTS, MSR and data center sites by ensuring the maintenance service providers have appropriate kits, carry out regular cleaning of the solar panels and replace faulty parts in time to ensure optimal generation of solar energy. 
    • Compile and regularly share up-to-date solar energy maintenance reports with relevant stakeholders for action where necessary.
    • Liaise with Data Center Operations, Energy Planning & Implementation teams, and Regional Network Maintenance teams to ensure optimized solar energy production and utilization on Safaricom BTS, MSR and data center sites.
    • Provide technical Support for Collocation Business through optimal energy demand management and project execution.
    • Oversee periodic audit of energy installations on the Safaricom BTS, MSR and data center sites.

    Contract Management

    • Coordinate quarterly and annual performance evaluation of the network maintenance services providers (MSPs) and Build-to-Suit contractors with respect to service level agreements (SLAs) for network availability, prepare relevant reports and oversee the PIP process where applicable.
    • Review monthly performance of the network maintenance services providers (MSPs) and Build-to-Suit contractors with respect to service level agreements (SLAs) for network availability and ensure any applicable service credits and penalties are executed in time.
    • Carry out regular site inspections to ensure network maintenance services providers (MSPs) adhere to Safaricom occupation health and safety (OHS) requirements.
    • Coordinate weekly and monthly meetings with network maintenance services providers (MSPs) and other stakeholders.
    • Prepare weekly and monthly reports on delivery of network energy maintenance projects and tasks.
    • Provide required support to the processes of competitive Expression of Interest (EOI), Request for Proposals (RFP) and Request for Quotations (RFQ) for network maintenance services and other assigned NOPEX projects.

    NOPEX Management

    • Provide required support for efficient planning, allocation and utilization of NOPEX budget for network energy operations and maintenance projects/functions.
    • Review and approve network energy project quotations from contractors to ensure they conform to scope of works and approved/contractual rates.
    • Drive cost saving initiatives with respect to network energy operations and maintenance projects/functions through automation, innovation and process improvements.

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in electrical & electronics, Engineering, Telecommunication, Computer, IT or related field.
    • Should have demonstratable at least 2yrs experience working in energy system in telecommunication environment.
    • Should demonstrate expertise IT/computer Literacy.
    • Should demonstrate proficiency in Data analytical tools and presentation skills.
    • Knowledge and accreditation in Data Center and Energy Management systems including, CEM/CMVP and DCIM is an added advantage.
    • Working knowledge and accreditation in electrical or solar systems installation and commissioning such as T1/T2 or T3.

    Quality Engineering Governance Lead

    Brief Description

    Reporting to the Quality Engineering Lead, the position holder will build, mentor & coach a team of highly specialized test automation and performance engineers that will work as a community of experts (CoE) to incorporate emerging trends and best practices to the quality engineering chapter leads and SDETs in the tribes/squads. Accountable for implementation and management of fully functional test environments on cloud or on-premises for all IT systems ensuring stability of the test environments. Responsible for the administration, upgrade, and maintenance of test management tools (ALM/Octane/JIRA/SonarQube/LoadRunner /JMeter etc.) ensuring proper functioning and use.

    Responsibilities

    The role holder will be responsible for;

    • Measuring UAT/OAT Environment Stability and Uptime
    • 99.9% Test Environment Availability for All Test Teams
    • Test Data Configurations and Custody
    • Documentation And Proper Use of Test Inventory.
    • Creating And Implementing a Maturity Model to Measure the Test Process
    • Measuring Quality on The Tribe and Squad Level
    • Defining And Documenting Quality Measurement Metrics
    • Measuring adoption and conformance to test automation framework.
    • Measure the overall test automation rate for all agile squads & Tribes.
    • Train and upskill SDETs in squads on emerging trends & best practices in test automation and drive adoption.
    • Responsible for introduction and adoption of test-driven development to agile teams
    • Responsible for creating, documenting, and maintaining the performance testing strategy.
    • Accountable for all Quality management systems and tools such as the quality centers (ALM/Octane), HP LoadRunner, JMeter, device farms, test data portal, selenium grid etc.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Science Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Development or related subject
    • 5 years + experience in quality assurance/quality engineering/software development with at least 2 years being in test automation space.
    • Experience in at least 2 of the mainstream programming languages e.g., java, python, Kotlin, JavaScript etc.
    • Experience in performance testing with tools such as JMeter/HP loadrunner/Locust.io
    • Experience with on cloud or on-premises mobile device farms such as aws device farm, Kobiton or browser stack is desirable but not required.
    • Strong understanding of maturity models in quality assurance or software development (CMM is preferred)
    • Experience with analysis and report generation and presentation
    • ISTQB Certification is a must.
