    Senior Investment Analyst

    Duties and responsibilities

    Investment analysis and financial modelling.

    • With guidance from supervisor, build financial and project models to analyse investment requirements and investments returns from new business proposals under consideration.
    • Support the financial analysis and forecasting of growth projections for existing enterprises.
    • Through quantitative and qualitative impact data and financial analysis, identify the strengths and opportunities to improve overall performance of the companies.
    • Perform extensive analytics on historical performance and develop forecasts on the short and long-term performance of the portfolio companies.
    • Provide analytical data and input in the development of country strategies and investment plans.

    Due diligence support and input into enterprise business plans.

    • Contribute to the drafting of business plans, investment analysis documents and other material for review.
    • Support the development of enterprise specific business plans prior to launch of the company operations and as required for company growth and expansion.
    • Assist in the management of data, trends, insights and metrics for the business portfolio across the region.
    • Carry out site visits to potential and existing business.
    • Maintain a rolling database of potential business ventures for screening and analysis.

    Financial and impact forecasting and reporting.

    • Support all aspects of investment portfolio management, monitoring the social and financial performance of existing investments, reviewing management information and compliance with organization policy.
    • Undertake social performance assessments of existing and prospective enterprises in the portfolio.
    • Support the financial and social impact metrics reporting, for the portfolio.

    Research

    • Support in-depth and extensive market research and analysis for target countries and sectors of interest to Pharo Foundation.
    • As needed, provide market research and analysis for existing businesses as they roll out growth strategies.
    • Undertake targeted research and marketing efforts in order to support the development of a pipeline of new social investment business opportunities.

    Qualifications and requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Law, Business Management or related fields is mandatory.
    • At least 4 years’ experience in the private sector, working in investment analysis, accounting, corporate finance or project finance, with exposure to multiple sectors and countries in the larger east Africa region.
    • Full finance professional qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA, CPA, CFA or equivalent).
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, INDEX&MATCH, SUMIFS, PivotTables are daily bread formulas to you).
    • Demonstrable experience in financial modelling and conducting complex financial analysis.
    • Experience supporting the development and roll out of business plans is preferred.
    • Solid ability and experience to conduct research and due diligence is required.
    • Extensive experience with budget development, financial forecasting and analysis of impact metrics is required.
    • Preferred candidate will be highly analytical, organised and a pragmatic professional who pays attention to details.
    • Enthusiasm and commitment to working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
    • Willingness to travel and visit business locations across the region.
    • Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage tasks and projects to complete work efficiently.
    • Substantial experience in successfully delivering results in multi-country and multi-culture organisations, preferably in an international development and impact investing setting.
    • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills across a range of audiences in a culturally and linguistically diverse environment where English is the working language.

    Deputy Headteacher - Pharo School Nairobi

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Teaching

    • Teach lessons as timetabled and according to the educational needs, abilities and achievements of the individual students and groups of students.
    • Prepare and keep records of schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, exercises, tests and examinations for each class taught.
    • Submit these records for inspection to the Head Teacher and Head of Education at least once every month and to school inspectors on demand.
    • Set and mark exercises, tests and examinations for constant monitoring of the students ’daily learning progress and achievement.
    • Ensure proper maintenance and use of teaching and learning materials.
    • Keep inventory of textbooks and class equipment.
    • Planning and preparing teaching and learning materials and incorporating experiments and illustrations at all times.
    • Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of the students.
    • Sign-off students’ diary of homework, assignments and projects completed.
    • Fill and sign-off students’ report forms in the subject taught.
    • Give guidance and counselling services to the students.
    • Play the role of a class teacher/ advisor/ co-ordinator and a coach or patron by participating and leading extra-curricular activities.
    • Prepare and raise requisitions for equipment, materials and other facilities for use by teachers in relation to academic departments.
    • Develop work plans, schedules, and set performance targets for staff.
    • Direct and manage resources for academic and student support functions.
    • Coordinate professional development and training for direct reports.
    • Conduct performance appraisals and provide recommendations for staff movement.

    Leadership and Organisational Oversight

    • Provide input into work plans and schedules for Heads of Departments, Student Support Staff, and Teachers.
    • Provide direction and manage direct reports within the school in performing the delegated tasks including ensuring that professional development and training needs (in coordination with Pharo Foundation Education Department) are identified to enable the acquisition of required skills and knowledge through the training programs.
    • Prepare and review all periodic reports including School Improvement Reports, students’ progress prepared by the Heads of Departments and teachers as appropriate.
    • Ensure that all the technology needs are identified and processes at School are performed efficiently and cost-effectively (in coordination with the Pharo ICT Team).
    • Develop and present for sign-off from the Head-teacher team strategies, and priorities for school improvement plans aimed at improving student achievement, which aligns with Pharo Foundation vision, mission, and strategic initiatives.
    • Ensure that the teaching staff implement high-quality teaching and learning standards and that these are based on best teaching and learning practices and consistent with the pedagogical and curriculum that The Pharo Foundation requires to be achieved.
    • Direct, observe, coordinate and plan the academic activities of the school and ensure that these are based on best practices and prepared in accordance with Pharo Foundation requirements for pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, and reporting.
    • Facilitate, in collaboration with Heads of Departments and teachers, the analysis of student achievement data to identify the adjustments that need to be made to teaching and learning programs to ensure that all students achieve the outcomes expected by Pharo Foundation.
    • Ensure adherence and upholding of Pharo Foundation policies e.g. Code of Conduct, Child Protection and all school procedures.
    • Develop positive relationships with parents and the community through implementing strategies aimed at continuous communication (e.g., regular parent/teacher meetings, school open days, newsletters, extra-curricular activities involving the community, etc.)

    Curriculum Implementation

    • Continuously and consistently improving the school curriculum and academic effectiveness through timely coverage of syllabuses, quality examinations, effective delivery of teachers in classes and observance of subject and school policies.
    • Facilitate communication between all Heads of Departments and teachers, especially matters related to student progress, integration of curriculum, language development of students, extra-curricular activities, and assessment of students’ work to ensure that students’ records are accurate, fair and valid.
    • In liaison with the Head Teacher draw the school’s timetable, daily routine, term’s schedule of activities and strategies for curriculum implementation.

    Financial Management and Control

    • Timely draw up accurate activity budgets for all academic programs that the school runs
    • Maintenance of proper inventories of equipment and supplies entrusted to the departments / panels.
    • Initiating and supervising income-generating activities in the institution to ensure profitability and sustainability of the business.

    Minimum required qualifications & experience

    • BSc degree in Mathematics, Sciences or bachelor’s degree in education.
    • Kenya National Examinations Council P1 Certificate.
    • TSC Registration Certificate.
    • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience and continuous teaching experience in the field, minimum 2 years' experience as a Head of Department or in a school leadership role.
    • Proven experience teaching Mathematics and Science at upper primary school level.
    • Strong understanding of the CBC Curriculum.
    • STEM experience is an added advantage.
    • Fluent in English and can competently conduct all classroom instruction in English.
    • Proficient in Word, Excel, Email usage, Google Suite, internet searching, and willing to learn new computer skills.
    • Have experience in Formative Assessment and using data to enhance their teaching and learning.
