    Senior Audit Manager

    Description

    PURPOSE

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audit Manager with a strong background in operational audits, data analytics and a deep appreciation for the use of automated processes in the control environment. This role will be responsible for leading and executing audits across various departments and functions within the Bank, focusing on leveraging data analytics and IT systems to enhance internal controls and risk management.

     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Plan, execute, and lead operational audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, identify process inefficiencies, and mitigate risks. This includes evaluating operational processes, reviewing documentation, performing data analysis, and assessing compliance with policies, regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Apply data analytics techniques to identify trends, anomalies, and patterns within large datasets. Develop and execute data-driven audit tests to assess the accuracy, completeness, and validity of financial and operational data. Utilise tools such as data visualization and statistical analysis to present audit findings effectively.
    • Appreciate and understand the role of IT systems, technologies, and automation in the control environment. Leverage technology to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of audit procedures, including the use of continuous monitoring and auditing techniques. Collaborate with IT stakeholders to assess system controls, security protocols, and data integrity.
    • Identify and evaluate risks associated with key business processes, systems, and controls. Assess the adequacy of control environments, including design and operating effectiveness of controls. Provide recommendations for control enhancements and risk mitigation strategies, with a focus on leveraging technology and IT solutions to strengthen controls.
    • Prepare concise and well-structured audit reports that highlight findings, risks, and recommendations in a clear and actionable manner. Present audit results to senior management and stakeholders. Communicate effectively with auditees, providing guidance on control improvements and addressing any concerns or questions.
    • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including business units, senior management, and IT teams in identifying constructive and value-added 
      solutions to address issues identified. Recommend operation improvements which ensure that proper controls are exercised over all aspects of the business and that company assets are conserved, protected and accurately presented. Maintain strong working relationships to foster cooperation, support, and knowledge exchange.
    • Conduct follow up of audit issues with management and report the status of remediation monthly.
    • Stay abreast of emerging audit practices, industry trends, and regulatory changes. Identify opportunities to enhance audit methodologies, data analytics techniques, and the utilization of IT in the control environment. Share best practices and provide guidance to junior auditors in leveraging technology for audit purposes.

     ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
    • Must have CPA or ACCA qualification. CIA or CISA will be an added advantage.

    CRITICAL SKILLS & COMPETENCES

    • At least 5 years internal or external audit experience gained from reputable institutions, preferably in Banking or big 4 Audit Firm.
    • Strong knowledge of audit methodologies, risk assessment frameworks, and control frameworks.
    • Good knowledge of the banking industry and the regulatory framework.
    • Experience in performing large and complex audits.
    • Good understanding of IT general controls, information security principles, and application controls.
    • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify patterns and trends.
    • Working knowledge of audit documentation tools
    • Working knowledge of computer assisted audit techniques (CAATs).
    • Experience using ACL is highly desirable.
    • Strong project management abilities, including the ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, and demonstrate ability to prepare timely, constructive and actionable audit and risk assessment reports.
    • Results oriented and ability to meet strict deadlines.
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Good understanding of Audit standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

    Assistant Manager - Data Analytics

     PURPOSE

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Analytics Manager to join our Internal Audit Department. This role will be responsible for supporting audit activities through data analysis, developing data-driven audit strategies, and providing valuable insights to enhance risk management and internal controls. The Data Analytics Manager will play a crucial role in utilizing data analytics techniques to identify trends, anomalies, and patterns within large datasets, thereby assisting in effective decision-making and improving overall audit efficiency.

     KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Utilize advanced data analytics techniques to perform in-depth analysis of structured and unstructured data, identifying trends, outliers, and potential control weaknesses. Collaborate with auditors to understand audit objectives and develop data-driven audit strategies and approaches. Support the planning, execution, and reporting phases of audits, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
    • Develop an annual continuous audit plan for approval for the Board Audit Committee and execute the approved plan. Use data analytics and our ACL Robotics tool to perform continuous audits, identify control weaknesses, report to management and obtain action plans to address the weaknesses identified.
    • Establish and maintain a comprehensive data analytics framework for the Internal Audit Department. Define and implement standardized data analysis procedures, tools, and templates to streamline the audit process and enhance efficiency. Identify opportunities for automation and continuous monitoring to facilitate proactive risk assessment and control evaluation.
    • Collaborate with auditors to identify key risks, control gaps, and control effectiveness within business processes and systems. Provide expertise in leveraging data analytics to assess the adequacy and efficiency of controls. Develop methodologies and metrics to evaluate control environments, identify control deficiencies, and recommend improvements to mitigate risks.
    • Data Visualization and Reporting: Create visually appealing and insightfuldata visualizations, dashboards, and reports to effectively communicate audit findings, trends, and patterns to stakeholders. Employ data visualization tools and techniques to simplify complex information, enabling management to make informed decisions. Contribute to the development of interactive reporting tools for continuous monitoring of key controls.
    • Establish strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and knowledge sharing. Proactively identify opportunities to leverage data analytics and provide recommendations for process improvements and risk mitigation strategies.
    • Coach, mentor and develop the team of data analysts to ensure they are trained and support in execution of the approved continuous audits plan.
    • Stay abreast of emerging data analytics methodologies, tools, and industry best practices. Participate in training programs, webinars, and conferences to enhance technical skills and stay updated on evolving data analytics trends. Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Internal Audit Department's data analytics capabilities and practices.

     ACADEMIC & PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, computer science, statistics, or a related field. 
    • Relevant certifications such as CPA (Certified Internal Auditor), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), or similar are highly desirable.

    CRITICAL SKILLS & COMPETENCES

    • At least 5 years data analytics experience gained from reputable institutions, preferably in Banking or a large complex organization.
    • Experience analyzing large quantities of data to derive insights and create new metrics with data extraction and manipulation skills.
    • Proficiency in scripting using tools such as ACL, SQL, Python, Power BI.
    • Proficiency in data analytics and visualization tools
    • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, data modeling, and data visualization principles.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
    • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
    • Experience in the banking industry and the regulatory framework
    • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify patterns and trends.
