    Clerk of Works

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Day to day FKE liaison and serving as a link with contractors, engineers, surveyors, and the entire Consulting teams at the Construction site.
    • Review Contract Documents with the Contractor on behalf of the Federation.
    • Inspect construction work to ensure it meets standards and health and safety requirements.
    • Observe the quality and progress of the construction to determine in general that it is proceeding in accordance with the Contracts.
    • Notify the Federation and the Consulting team any deviations.
    • Inspecting construction work and comparing it with drawings and specifications.
    • Measuring and quality checking of building materials.
    • Identifying defects and suggesting ways to correct them.
    • Monitoring progress and reporting to FKE and the Consulting team and assist in the preparation of progress reports.
    • Confirming the plans and documenting of work, along with measurements and samples.
    • Checking that building regulations, legal and ecological requirements are adhered to. and discuss them with the Federation and the Consulting team for decision making.
    • Attend project meetings as the Federations representative and report back in writing.
    • Confirm all the tests that may be required by the Contract.
    • Maintain detailed records of work at the construction site or as directed by the Federation.
    • Review Applications for Payment submitted by the consultants.
    • Assist the Federation in final inspection of the work done and review the documentation and record documents to be furnished to the Federation upon completion of the work.
    • Liaise with the consultants to ensure appropriate financial, commercial, and legal risks relating to the project are documented.
    • Be a member of the procurement team for the project.
    • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
    • Any other work that may be assigned by the Federation.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Degree in Engineering/Architecture/Surveying/ Building Construction or related field.
    • Holders of a considered. of works/ supervisor in a large construction site.
    • Proven track record of handling construction projects successfully.

    Digital Media Intern

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Create content for social media messaging, web-optimization for BUSINESS Africa.
    • Design social media infographics and videos for BUSINESSAfrica social media usage.
    • Monitor trends, listen, update, and respond to FKE followers on social media platforms as per guidelines.
    • Update the contact details of all Business Africa members.
    • Update all BUSINESSAfrica social media platforms.
    • Capture all events (images and video) involving BUSINESSAfrica and publish them on all Business
    • Drafting Articles and opinion pieces on current issues.
    • Utilize Search Engine Optimization (SEO) guidelines to drive web traffic and boost the reach of the different articles.
    • Proofread and edit pieces before publication to ensure quality work is produced.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • A bachelor's degree in PR &Communications/ Media
    • Excellent written and spoken communication in French and English
    • 1 Year of relevant work experience
    • Excellent writing, editing (photo/video/text) skills
    • In-depth knowledge, understanding and experience of social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube etc.) and how each platform can be deployed in different scenarios by a corporate.
    • Design knowledge and experience in utilizing Canva and Zoho will be an added advantage

    Public Relations and Communications Assistant

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support the PR & Communications Manager in implementing the internal and external communication strategy. 
    • Facilitate media monitoring of FKE coverage across print, tv, radio and digital media.
    • Drafting articles, news releases, weekly newsletters, and other communication to members
    • With guidance of the PR & Communications Manager, develop content addition of links to/from the site.
    • Support the PR & Communications Manager in editing and arranging for production of corporate communication tools (annual report, communication kit, brochures, banners, newsletters, e-shots, and other brand standards).
    • Review FKE corporate communication materials, brand, and package them appropriately.
    • Edit and produce speaker support presentation materials and speeches for the Executive Director (digital, print and PowerPoint)
    • Support execution of the Federation's events to enhance stakeholder engagement.
    • Support the implementation of the communications/ marketing plan for FKE, its products and services.
    • Support with graphic design of visuals and videos for use in FKE
    • Communications Channels and where needed coordinate with external designers, agencies, and vendors to support the same.
    • Execution of the FKE Digital Communications strategy & support in managing the social media
    • Supporting the PR & Communications manager in media relations activities including organizing media briefings and development of press releases amongst other communication materials

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Degree in Communication/Languages/Linguistics/ Literature or Mass Communication

    Operations Executive

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support the Execute Director in high level meetings and travel requirements by ensuring that required protocols are observed, accommodation bookings, travel, logistics, and all related correspondence are well coordinated.
    • Assist the Executive Director in preparing board communication, coordination of board meetings and documentation.
    • Board reporting and support.
    • Follows up and report on implementation of all Management, Committees and Board resolutions.
    • Providing, managing and maintaining comprehensive business status reporting with robust key performance indicators, dashboards and performance metrics to support key business decisions.
    • Develop concepts papers, periodic progress reports and annual reports sh achievements against planned targets as well as providing justification for performance variance and areas of improvement.
    • Interpreting organizational data into meaningful trends for strategic decision making.
    • Providing the Executive Director with a regular comprehensive status report of various deliverables by Heads of departments.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor degree in social science, Economics, business administration or related field.
    • Minimum of 5 years of applicable office operations and demonstrated administrative experience supporting C-Level Executives

    Legal & IR Research Assistant

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct legal research and prepare internal briefings on matters relating to employment, labour laws and social policy.
    • Provide reports and summaries on upcoming Employment and Labour Relations Court matters
    • Provide support in preparation and drafting of memorandums
    • Track the legislative calendars at the Executive level, National Assembly, Senate and County levels to identify all upcoming matters on Employment and Labour Relations

    Legal Editor with Tech Interests

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Content generation for the E-Waajiri portal
    • Editorial responsibilities for the legal and Industrial Relations content uploaded on the portal in liaison with the editorial committee.
    • Ensure that the content on the portal is up to date and complies with the current laws and regulations.
    • Guide colleagues on development of new content and maintain existing content, as well as developing new services on the E-Waajiri portal.
    • Drafting articles and other content, and editing content submitted by other colleagues to ensure that complex messages are easy to understand.
    • Lead and organize internal expert groups aimed at quality assurance of content.
    • Coordinate and lead processes with external content and solution providers.
    • Reply to members questions raised from and regarding the E-Waajiri portal. Prepare periodic reports on the members portal and present to management to inform decision making.
    • Present the portal and other digital services in internal and external fora and to members.
    • Working closely with the PR & Communications team to promote awareness creation and publicity of the E-Waajiri members portal.
    • Mobilising members for the uptake of services through the E-Waajiri portal

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in law (LLB), preferably with experience in labour law and Industrial Relations
    • Experience in preparing complex legal guidelines and insights in a simple way to make it easily understood by a wide audience
    • Experience gained from digitalization projects, online services and publishing will be considered an asset
    • Interest in and understanding of digital technology

    Industrial Relations Officer

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Handling Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations and advising employers on how to manage them.
    • Assisting members in dealing with trade disputes & strikes and liaising with trade unions and the Ministry of Labour for the quick settlement of trade disputes.
    • Supporting Associations in their Meetings, Negotiations and other administrative needs to ensure that all the affairs of the associations are run smoothly.
    • Coordinating operations related to Industrial Relations Policy Working groups
    • Handling conciliation and consultation meetings
    • Developing Industrial Relations training materials and supporting the Training Department to provide training activities
    • Developing and reviewing Industrial Relations policies, procedures and guidelines
    • Representing Employers at the Employment and Labour Relations Court Representing FKE in tripartite and other assigned meetings and forums on Employment and Labour Relations matters
    • Recruitment of new members and collection of subscriptions
    • Developing content for the Members Portal
    • Mobilising members to uptake services from the Members Portal
    • Performing other duties as required

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in HR, Law, or a related Social Science field.
    • Post Graduate qualifications in Human Resource Management or Industrial Relations
    • Current member of a professional body
    • 5 years hands on experience in Labour and Industrial Relations
    • Ability to lead negotiations, conclude, prepare Collective Bargaining
    • Agreements (CBAs) and ensure their registration.
    • Experience in preparing training contents and delivering training will be an added advantage.
