    Mental Health Psychosocial (MHPSS) Project Officer

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Co-ordination of the Teach wells school based MHPSS interventions for teachers. S/He will be charged with the responsibility of conducting needs assessment and provision of appropriate interventions, for female teachers in the schools.
    • Prepare annual and quarterly work plans and budgets for all MHPSS activities and ensure implementation is within the donor requirements, guidelines and timelines.
    • Support the development, review, and dissemination of the MHPSS technical modules in the teacher professional development curriculum.
    • Organize and conduct all capacity building activities for teacher trainers or trainers, peer educators, teachers and male champions.
    • Render psychosocial support services to individual teachers, and teacher support groups to assist them to process, deal and recover from the effects of traumatic events.
    • Coordinate and strengthen linkages of teachers to other MHPSS services outside school i.e. health facilities, social protection, gender-based violence recovery centres, police, etc, through a defined referral pathway
    • Oversee and conduct psychosocial assessments & plan individual case management of teachers on follow up at the mental health department & ensure case management goals are properly achieved.
    • Facilitate group counseling sessions with teachers including selection of group members, planning the group sessions & facilitating group sessions.
    • Collaborate and network with other and or all relevant implementing partners in teacher MHPSS, line ministries, hospital departments and community stake holders through active participation in periodic coordination forums.
    • Lead the Teachwell project Health sub working group in her/his area of jurisdiction.
    • Provide mentorship and coaching for the teacher trainers or trainers supporting MHPSS in schools through continuous education, guidance, supervision, and support.
    • Attend project and Consortium partners and camp meetings related to teacher MHPSS to improve service delivery to female teachers.
    • Ensure that all work with client teachers is kept confidential and that ethical practices are always observed.
    • Lead the timely development of all required project reports for sharing with the consortium and the donor.
    • Assist with any other related activities/duties as deemed by the supervisor.            

    Key result areas

    • Improvement in overall quality of MHPSS care for all the teachers in Kakuma refugee camp.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Degree in Medical psychology, counselling or a related field.
    • Working knowledge of English and Kiswahili.
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
    • At least 3-5 years in field programming experience within schools, teachers, Humanitarian, NGO/Agency in the same or similar position.
    • Extensive experience providing psychotherapy to teachers and groups.
    • Flexibility and adaptability to the changing environment.
    • Skilled at working as a team member.
    • Demonstrate flexibility to adapt to changing requirements and needs.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Word & Excel).
    • Able to work in a stressful refugee environment.

    Service Mapping Officer

    Job Overview

    IRC is seeking a Service Mapping Officer, based in Kakuma under the direct supervision of the Senior Editorial Officer and will support the Signpost team in Kakuma refugee camp. The Service Mapping Officer will ensure the service mapping on assistance and services provided by local, national, International National Organizations (INGOs) and United Nations agencies is collected, updated, and uploaded on Julisha.info and shared with the teams in Nairobi, Kakuma and Hagadera to disseminate regular up-to-date and accurate information. This will include the design and implementation of referral and service mapping guidance and contribution to report writing, and capacity-building activities as requested.

    The Service Mapping Officer plays a critical role in enhancing the accuracy and effectiveness of our AI chatbot by identifying, cataloging, and maintaining up-to-date information on services and resources available to refugees. You will work closely with the editorial team, moderators, and AI team to ensure that the chatbot provides reliable and comprehensive information to those seeking assistance. Your work will directly contribute to improving the lives of refugees by ensuring they receive accurate, timely, and relevant information.

    Major Responsibilities

    • Identify service providers through field visits, information from field teams, meetings, working groups, desk research, social media, and surveys
    • Create services destined for a map with pins and list of services
    • Collaborate with the Signpost Product Manager, Senior Editorial Officer and the Signpost Service Mapping working group to improve features and identify bugs/issues with the service mapping Content Management System.
    • Provide support to the moderators and community incentives on quality referrals and ensure regular follow up on referrals in collaboration with protection staff.
    • Assist in creating user-friendly guides and materials that summarize available services for refugees, which can be used both by the chatbot and shared directly with our audience.
    • Regularly update information in online and offline service maps, referral directory and share with moderators, senior editorial officers, other IRC and Humanitarian Aid workers/organizations.
    • Update referral pathways regularly, connect with local, national, International National Organizations (INGOs) and United Nations agencies on referral pathways
    • Conduct regular reviews of the chatbot's performance in providing service information, identifying areas for improvement and gaps in the data.
    • Provide feedback to the AI and content teams to enhance the chatbot's ability to recommend relevant services based on user needs.
    • Supervise referrals, develop, and implement action plans to address emerging referral gaps to improve capacity of staff to conduct safe referrals to relevant service providers.
    • Contribute to the design and implementation of information campaigns based on needs
    • Equip Julisha.Info moderators with updated information on available humanitarian assistance, services, referrals, and emerging information
    • Contribute to report writing, proposal and content development in line with Julisha.Info objectives.
    • Where feasible contribute to content creation for Julisha.info platform

    Indirect Reporting: Protection Manager

    Other Internal and/or external contacts: Regular coordination with IRC protection team, Julisha.Info teams in Nairobi, Kakuma and Hagadera, other IRC sectors (Health, Nutrition, Women’s Economic and Empowerment, Economic Recovery and Development) and with other humanitarian actors and partners.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Approximately two years of relevant experience, including two years implementing humanitarian protection programs.
    • At least one-year meaningful experience in web content management; writing or publishing.
    • Experience in User-Centered Design a plus.

    • Working with forced migrants (refugees, asylum seekers) and refugee hosting communities is an added advantage

    Education  

    • Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, Social work, Sociology, Psychology)

    Language Skills

    • Advanced English language skills, oral and written. Knowledge of Swahili, Somali or French is an added advantage.

    Preferred experience & skills

    • Humanitarian coordination for managing service maps and referrals.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clarity and conciseness in all communications
    • Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills; ability to prioritize and deliver on time
    • Strong knowledge of social media management, including content optimization, audience engagement, and trend analysis.
    • Strong analytic problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional team
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
    • Familiarity with AI technology and chatbot systems is an advantage.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with partners and in a team at all levels

    Community Health Assistants

    Key Responsibilities

    • Overseeing the selection of CHPs by community members at the community level.
    • Working with the CH Officer to organize and facilitate CHPs and CHC training.
    • In support of the CHO, the CHA will ensure quarterly CHC meetings are held in the assigned unit.
    • Monitoring the management of the CHPs’ kit and phones for effective implementation
    • Supporting the CHPs in assigned tasks and coaching them to ensure the achievement of desired health and WASH outputs and outcomes in the assigned units.
    • Conduct close monitoring and follow-up to unstable /high-risk households to ensure improved health outcomes.
    • Collating Health /WASH information gathered by the CHPs to display summaries at strategic sites to provide relevant feedback as well as material for dialogue at community levels.
    • Compiling MOH /specific donor reports from CHPs and forwarding them to the CH Officer
    •  Receiving feedback from facilities & CH Officers and passing it on to the CHCs and CHPs through dialogue and planning that leads to actions to improve identified Health /WASH issues.
    • Following up and monitoring actions emerging from dialogue and planning sessions to ensure implementation.
    • Conducting support supervision to all the CHPs in the assigned unit within 3 months, identifying the gaps, and organizing CME, OJT, or training to improve CHPs' knowledge and skills for effective delivery of services.

    Capacity building

    • With the support of the CHO organize training and refreshers for CHPs on community health/WASH-related topics
    • Liaise with the program CHOs to develop a curriculum and an IRC training manual for CHPs.
    • Ensure a class of CHPs is trained and certified yearly.
    • Liaise with CHOs to conduct CHP performance monitoring and evaluation of all CHPs twice annually.

    Administrative responsibilities:

    • Prepare orders for sector activities and maintain inventories for the assigned units
    • Ensure daily attendance is signed, duty roster signed, and submitted to CHO for verification before handing it to the Counterpart manager.
    • In liaison with CHO compile weekly monthly, quarterly, and annual reports unit report.

    Key Result Areas:

    • Ensure that all CHPs have appropriate PPEs when undertaking IRC-related activities.
    • Coordinate and supervise the activities of all the Community Health Promoters (CHPs) and their supervisors to ensure that each is assigned to specific households and persons.
    • Attend facility meetings weekly and give guidance to the CHPs on issues raised.
    • Contribute to the maintenance of a high-quality and motivated team of polyvalent
    • Community Health Promoters (CHPs) by participating in formal and on-job training sessions, performance appraisal, and feedback and ensure that staff discipline and
    • Adherence to organizational policies is always in place.
    • Perform mentorship sessions for the CHPs allocated to you and compile a report on the same biweekly and submit it to the CHO.
    • With the support of the CHO work with community health committees to ensure that the community members actively participate in preventive and health promotion activities at the community level and support Community Health Promoters in their day-to-day activities.
    • Participate in camp-wide surveys and medical campaigns.
    • Liaise with the other sectors to ensure community-based indicators are met.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Diploma in Public Health, Environmental Health, or its equivalent.
    • Registered with the relevant body.
    • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in the Public Health field.
    • Strong communication skills; oral, written, and presentation skills.
    • Team player.
    • Ready to work in difficult environmental conditions.
    • Must be flexible and culturally sensitive.
    • Experience working in a resource-poor setting and/or camp environment is an added advantage.
