SPECIALIZATION: PUBLIC LAW

Requirements for appointment.
For appointment to this position the candidate must:

• Have an earned Ph.D. in law from an accredited and recognized University.
• Have expertise in at least two of SEKU School of Law niche areas of Electoral law, Sustainable development law, Environmental law, Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from dry land agriculture, Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from management and conservation of natural resources and the environment including climate change and adaptation, use of technology in these areas etc.
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

OR

• Have a Master’s Degree in law (LL.M.) from an accredited and recognized University
• Possess at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level or five years in research or judicial/legal practice.
• Have expertise in at least two of SEKU School of Law niche areas of Electoral law, Sustainable development law, Environmental law, Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from dryland agriculture, Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from management and conservation of natural resources and the environment including climate change and adaptation, use of technology in these areas etc.
• Have a minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers.
• Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing and with a valid practising license,
• Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
• NB: Experience in private law practice will be an added advantage.

Job Specification
Duties and responsibilities entail:

• Managing, delivering and develping of high quality, user focused and cost effective user services within the University library.
• Line-managing designated colleagues, contribute to identification of staffing needs, and lead on staff induction, appraisal and development within the library.
• Managing the effective deployment of staff to service points and functional areas.
• Participating in the delivery of face-to-face and online enquiry services.

Duties and responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities entail assisting in:

• Promoting SEKU sports programming.
• Maintaining standards for SEKU sports.
• Attending weekly staff meetings.
• Collating of information for the preparation of a quarterly sports department reports to be submitted to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (ARI).
• Preparing weekly training programmes for all University teams and maintain an attendance schedule for the teams to ascertain training progress.
• Preparing reports of the weekly scheduled meetings and archive them in the department’s repository for future reference by the University management.
• Ensuring the sports facilities are regularly maintained and marked appropriately for use during training and games competition.
• Archiving sports information, records and artifacts in the institution to keep up to date records for future reference in the institution.

• Providing guidance on governance and adherence to statutory obligations.

• Managing, reviewing and updating of all the University codes, regulations, rules, guidelines, by-laws and treaties for consistency with each other
