    Driver

    OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

        Country Management Support Units (CSUs) have been established in the organizational structure to provide support for Managers and staff to fully assume their responsibilities in the GSM environment and to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, rules and regulations on all administrative and financial matters and transactions in the context of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

        Within the Country Management Support Unit, to provide transportation support to the WHO Country Office Representation and to Driving WHO Official vehicles and ensures that vehicles are kept in good and working conditions.

    Description Of Duties

        The incumbent will perform the following duties:
      • Drives the head of the Office (WR) and other high ranking Officials;
      • Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities
      • Collects and delivers mail, pouch and other official documents whenever required;
      • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires and ensures that vehicle is kept clean and is in good running condition at all the times;
      • Maintains log book for official travel, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes etc;
      • Ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident;
      • Performs other duties whenever required based on clearance from WR.
      • Work might require driving for long periods, lifting pouch bags, some of which are over 25 kgs and also driving subject to weather and traffic risks.

    Required Qualifications

    Education

    Essential

        : At least Junior Secondary School education and a valid driver’s license of the country.

    Experience

    Essential

        : At least ten years driving experience as a driver and a safe driving record.

    Desirable

        : UN experience would be an advantage.

    Skills

      • Driving rules and regulations of the country;
      • Familiarity with office procedures and transport needs of the office;
      • Knowledge of driver courtesies;
      • Ability to read, write and understand instructions in the official working languages and
      • Ability to write concise and faithful reports of accidents, when applicable.
      • Basic word processing or other software packages, and standard office equipment.
      • Formal or self-training in the use of standard office software.

    Use Of Language Skills

    Essential

        : Good knowledge of English.

    REMUNERATION

        WHO offers staff in the General Services category an attractive remuneration package, which for the above position includes an annual net base salary starting at KES 1,018,192 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
