About the role
It is a very exciting time for Leonard Cheshire’s International Team with our ambitious and well-planned growth strategy beginning to gain momentum. We are looking for people to join us on this journey of growth.
This is a significant opportunity for you to bring your in depth understanding of safeguarding to advise on and provide case management services on safeguarding across Leonard Cheshire’s Kenya programmes and partnerships. You will develop plans and strategies for effective safeguarding management, touching upon all levels of delivery as well as support the collation, analysis and reporting on opportunities for organisational learning arising from safeguarding concerns, complaints or incidents.
You will support staff across our Kenya programmes, delivering advice on effective prevention, as well as guidance and practical support in the case management of safeguarding cases and concerns. You will support the Head of Safeguarding and Organisational Learning in the UK, ensuring that international safeguarding policies and procedures remain fit for purpose and reflect legislative and regulatory requirements in the countries they will be applied to.
As a key member of our Safeguarding team you will represent Leonard Cheshire at external meetings, forums and conferences, contributing to the wider learning of safeguarding developments, particularly with BOND and other INGOS and NGOS.
About you
Bringing your working knowledge of current UK legislation and regulations, as they affect our work in other countries, as well as specific in country legislation and donors requirements. You will have an in depth understanding of safeguarding and protection principles in an international development context.
You will have worked in a related sector or role for at least 3 years with sound experience of safeguarding strategies as well as case management, support and advice. You will have demonstrable experience of programmes inspection, audit and action planning with local delivery partners, along with experience of delivering improvements and regulatory compliance.
You will have a commitment to supporting people in the least restrictive way possible, ensuring their dignity, respect and human rights are upheld. You will be able to communicate effectively across different countries and cultures and be able to work flexibly and travel and stay away from home on a regular basis.
