Conservation International is an American nonprofit environmental organization headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. Its goal is to protect nature as a source of food, fresh water, livelihoods and a stable climate.
The project will contribute to improved adaptation to climate change of Kenya’s national policy of “Ending Drought Emergencies”, as outlined in “Kenya Vision 2030”. The project will strengthen climate change adaptation in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs).
The project addresses this through three components: Climate change adapted planning for drought resilience, Restoration of rangeland landscapes for ecosystem-based adaptation and Climate change resilient ecosystem management for investments (CI led component).
POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of the Conservation Finance Division (Africa)The Investment Director – Kenya, serves as East Africa’s Conservation Finance point person and will take the lead in delivery of the GCF TWENDE project. Additionally, the Investment Director will provide regional support and coordination in CI Ventures (CIV), Conservation Stewards Program (CSP) Trusts and Carbon Finance.
Fundraising, concept/proposal development for new Conservation Finance products or solutions (with focus on Climate Smart lending or insurance), will also contribute to the deliverables for this role.
The position requires a high level of interaction across multiple Divisions, with external clients and will require representation externally at global conferences and events, developing and maintaining partnerships with investment and development partners engaged in Conservation Finance, grantees and implementing partners.
