    Associate Director – Public Service Institutions

    Job Purpose Statement

    • This role is instrumental in developing and implementing strategies to enhance relationships with government and public sector organizations, providing tailored financial solutions, and driving business growth in this segment in line with the Strategic Plan – Africa Recovery and Resilience Plan (ARRP) and the chosen go-to-market approach. The service delivery is made in close collaboration with Sector, Product, Channel and other Support teams to achieve these objectives.

    Key Accountabilities

    Segment Strategy and Development:

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive segment strategy that aligns with the bank's overall business goals and objectives.
    • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities within the public service institutions sector.
    • Build and maintain a deep understanding of the regulatory and compliance landscape specific to public sector banking.

    Client Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate and maintain strong, strategic relationships with key clients within the public service institutions segment.
    • Understand the unique financial needs and challenges of government agencies, municipalities, and public sector entities.
    • Ensure the delivery of exceptional service to clients, meeting their financial objectives and fostering long-term partnerships.

    Team Leadership

    • Lead and mentor a team of Relationship Managers and support staff to achieve business goals.
    • Develop and implement performance metrics, targets, and training programs to enhance the team's effectiveness.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the segment.

    Product and Service Innovation

    • Work closely with the product development team to create and tailor banking products and services that meet the specific needs of public service institutions.
    • Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to ensure the bank remains competitive and innovative in this segment.

    Risk Management and Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant banking regulations and internal policies within the public service institutions segment.
    • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the bank's interests while supporting clients' financial objectives.

    Financial Performance

    • Drive revenue growth by expanding the bank's portfolio within the segment.
    • Monitor and analyze financial performance and develop strategies to maximize profitability.
    • Prepare and present segment performance reports to Executive management.

    Qualifications
    Education and experience required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) from a recognized University or College.
    • Professional Certifications in Banking, Marketing would be an added advantage.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
    • In-depth knowledge of banking products and services, especially relevant to the public sector
    • Regulatory compliance knowledge within the banking sector.
    • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and emerging trends.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
    • Adept at building and maintaining relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
    • Sound decision-making skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
    • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

    Work Experience

    • A minimum of 10 years of senior management experience within a commercial banking environment, with a focus on the public service institutions segment.
    • Proven track record of successfully developing and executing business strategies.
