    Consular Secretary (USEFMs Only)

    Duties

    Basic Function of the Position:

    • Reporting to the Consul General (CG). The incumbent is primarily an office manager who fills a variety of functions. In addition to organizing the CG schedule and correspondence, the incumbent serves as the Consular Section's expert on the Embassy's automated personnel, travel, and procurement systems and assist officer and LE Staff with them as needed.  The incumbent provides exceptional customer service to the many VIPs applying for visas and provides complete and accurate information in response to inquiries.  The incumbent collects biometrics and other duties that need to be performed by U.S. citizen employee with a security clearance.

    Qualifications and Evaluations

    Requirements:

    EDUCATION: 

    • High school graduate and two years of college studies is required

    JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Position must be aware of who staff are and their rank. Must have knowledge of Embassy procedures and regulations and management notices.

    Education Requirements:

    EXPERIENCE:  Three years of experience in an office environment handling administrative duties and providing high level customer service is required.

    Evaluations:

    LANGUAGE:  English level 4 (fluent) speaking, reading, and writing is required. Language proficiency will be tested.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

    • Ability to draft routine correspondence and cables using examples as a guide. Ability to work well with others and be public service oriented. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong keyboard skills and typing with speed and accuracy.
    • Competency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficiency will be tested. Ability to use Embassy software like E2, WinTA, ILMS is required. A Secret clearance is required.

    Qualifications:

    • All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certifications.
