    Data Analyst - Regional

    About the Opportunity

    The Regional Data Analyst, reporting to the Business Analytics Manager, plays a key role in promoting data-driven decision-making within the organization. 

    Their main duties include creating innovative dashboards, reports, and analytical frameworks to gain insights both internally and externally. They also mentor and oversee data analysts and manage reporting requirements across all our operational countries. They also ensure that data-driven insights inform and guide the organization's overall strategies.

    The main responsibilities of the Regional Data Analyst include the following:

    Responsibilities

    Reporting & Analytics (70%):

    • Create organizational metrics that meet Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) needs.
    • Use advanced analytical methods, including qualitative and quantitative approaches, to discover important trends, insights, and patterns that support informed decision-making.
    • Develop and maintain advanced dashboards and reports using BI tools such as Power BI ,Tableau and Looker.
    • Regularly review and analyze data quality, identifying discrepancies or anomalies and communicating with the data quality analyst.
    • Identify new internal and external data sources to support analytics initiatives and work with appropriate partners to absorb the data into new or existing data infrastructure.
    • Build and maintain tools and platforms for automating repetitive tasks so that bandwidth can be freed for analytics.
    • Ensure alignment of donor reports with dashboard metrics.
    • Keep the Data Dictionary current by adding new terms or updating existing ones as needed.
    • Streamline operations through process automation, optimizing efficiency and productivity.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data analytics and reporting.
    • Explore and identify opportunities to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into data analytics processes, enhancing predictive analytics, automation, and insights

    Support & Communication (15%):

    • Collaborate with Data Engineering staff to ensure all analytical data points, data cleanliness, structure, security, and accessibility are available on the IMS.
    • Provide technical support to stakeholders, assisting them in accessing and interpreting data as needed.
    • Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders 
    • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams, translating complex data concepts into understandable insights.
    • Support all countries of our operations matters of analytical framework and onboarding new Team members to the Reporting Portal and its dynamics. 

    Supervise and Capacity Building (15%):

    • Supervise and mentor data analyst, providing guidance on data analytics techniques, tools and best practices.
    • Conduct training sessions or workshops to enhance the data analytics skills of MERL team members and stakeholders.
    • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the organization by promoting data literacy and awareness.
    • Educating stakeholders on data protection best practices and promoting a culture of data security and privacy awareness.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The Regional Data Analyst should possess an advanced level of expertise in the Analytical framework, supported by several years of relevant experience. 

    Key qualifications include:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related role.
    • Strong understanding of MySQL, PostgreSQL, and experience with relational databases.
    • The ability to program in any high-level language is required. Familiarity with python’s statistical packages is preferred.
    • Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker or similar in creating interactive dashboards, designing visually compelling charts, and implementing advanced data visualization techniques to convey complex insights effectively.
    • High attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Innovative mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and experience in presenting dashboards, reports and insights to executive, technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Knowledge of project management tools like Azure DevOps and Jira.
    • Knowledge in data protection best practices.
