    Director of Global Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy

    ROLE PURPOSE:

    Save the Children has agreed an ambitious new global strategy for 2022-24 and has developed an accompanying Global Funding Framework to inform and shift how the movement can work together to drive greater funding impact for children.  By 2024, our ambition is for Save the Children to be a +$3bn/yr organisation, with a new Corporate Partnerships & Philanthropy (CP&P) strategy setting out an ambitious global growth goal to raise +$500m/yr of this income from philanthropic partnerships. 
    This new senior role will therefore be responsible for leading our new Global Corporate Partnerships & Philanthropy team, which leads on our work with Foundations, Corporations and High Net Worth Individuals,  and will be part of wider Resource Mobilisation, Communications and Engagement (RMCE) function, which is comprised of several teams that work together to support our global funding, communications and engagement work. The wider RMCE includes: the Global Fundraising and Marketing Hub, which supports all mass market fundraising work; the Global Programme Funding and Institutional Partnerships team, which supports all institutional fundraising and related donor partnerships work; and the Global Communications and Engagement team, which oversees our content, brand, digital and communications work. 
    Working with wider leadership, this exciting new role will therefore help deepen our global engagement with business, philanthropists, foundations and trusts through the development of best in class propositions, developing the capability and capacity of our teams and steering our global philanthropy pipeline and partnerships. Accountable for increasing the impact of these relationships and leveraging those capabilities in support of Save the Children’s programme/policy goals, this role will collaborate with our membership to engage, acquire and retain high value philanthropic and corporate partnerships.
    The role will consequently lead global initiatives across the Save the Children movement to enhance current philanthropic funding, associated risk assurance and strategic alignment with global portfolio. The work will focus on driving a culture of collective decision-making and action, both strategically and operationally, working closely with senior stakeholders as well as functional experts and delivery teams to create global solutions. The post-holder will also need to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in SCI Country, Regional, and Global /Member Offices, across fundraising, legal, international programmes, and program quality & impact. The role entails significant stakeholder engagement to ensure buy-in for its initiatives, including regular dialogue with the member Philanthropy Directors, Donor Partnership and/or Fundraising as well as periodic updates to senior leadership and others.

    Role Dimensions: 

    This role is part of the Resource Mobilisation, Communications and Engagement (RMCE) function, which is comprised of several teams that work together to support our global funding, communications and engagement work. Internal business partners will include the Senior Management Team of RCME and other key SLT colleagues across members and SCI.

    KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • To provide leadership and strategic direction for the development and delivery of Save the Children’s global Corporate Partnership & Philanthropy strategy, working with Save the Children Members globally to engage, acquire, steward and retain strategic corporate partners, philanthropists and trusts/foundations to deliver greater impact, investment and influence in line with Save the Children’s Global Strategy 2022-24, 
    • Lead the development of transformational products and propositions for our high value audiences, which align with Save the Children’s strategic priorities in order to grow their awareness and consideration of our brand, and maximise their value to Save the Children, 
    • Grow not only high value audiences’ financial contribution to our strategic priorities, but also their direct contribution to our programme and policy goals and mass supporter engagement strategy by leveraging their skills, resources and expertise 
    • Support the development and success of priority donor partnerships and accounts  by helping to steward Global Pitch Teams, helping identify surge resource support behind these priority opportunities.
    • Strong collaboration with the Global Fundraising and Marketing Hub and Programme Funding and Institutional Partnership teams, and effectively stewarding their interactions with Member Fundraising Leadership, is critical to ensure we are  maximising opportunities and leveraging effectively across our funding partnership and portfolio and developing integrated workplans in support of our Global Funding Framework 
    • Lead and inspire a team of high value fundraisers to new levels of performance, through role modelling personal fundraising success, actively managing the global pipeline of opportunities in collaboration with Programme Funding & Institutional Partnerships team, providing technical leadership in sales behaviours, and coaching and inspiring team members to deliver 
    • Working with Member Fundraising Leadership, drive capability strengthening across the membership for our Corporate Partnership and Philanthropy communities identifying and sharing best practice, promoting training and skill share opportunities as well as developing communities or practice and knowledge sharing.
    • Actively contribute as a member of the team to deliver organisation’s Supporter and Corporate Strategies more broadly.
    • Keep up-to-date with corporate partnership and philanthropic fundraising trends within the sector and beyond, and generally maintain a strong external orientation and network. 
    • Be a role model of Save the Children’s organizational values and behaviours

    QUALIFICATIONS  

    • Educated to degree level or qualified by relevant professional experience. 

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    Essential 

    • Proven track record of philanthropic fundraising and/or commercial business development, personally securing and growing multi-million pound relationships at scale over multiple years 
    • A high level of personal gravitas, someone who is at ease working with and influencing successful and high-profile individuals with high levels of impact, charisma and sensitivity
    • Demonstrable experience of having personally lead and delivered large multi-million dollar philanthropic appeals at equivalent scales, through appeal boards or peer to peer structures. 
    • Proven commercial acumen and demonstrable track record of managing a portfolio of 50- 100m+, with extensive experience gained at a senior level within a client management or sales environment in a public or private context
    • Leading edge understanding of the use of philanthropic pipeline and Cause Related Marketing management to drive related philanthropic sales effectiveness
    • Leading edge understanding of transformational partnerships that harness the capabilities of multiple partners to deliver for children 
    • Leading edge understanding of the use of consumer partnerships to drive brand awareness, consideration and action amongst mass audiences
    • The ability to work collaboratively and influence effectively across the membership and with key internal stakeholders, working across organisational boundaries to achieve globally agreed goals
    • Team leadership skills, with proven experience of inspiring and improving the performance of a sales team
    • Results-oriented, with an ability to adapt to changing circumstances whilst maintaining a focus on the end goal
    • Proactivity, self-motivation, and drive
    • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills, including an ability to overcome obstacles to cooperation, forge consensus and drive action
    • A proven ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholder groups at all levels
    • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures 
    • Demonstrated ability to act independently and take on challenges willingly
    • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children movement 

    Desirable 

    • Experience working in a global function that supports INGO Members / National Offices
    • Experience of being involved in the implementation of a new / change business processes and ways of working or transformation processes.
