    Director, Research And Partnerships

    Duties and Responsibilities 
    Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:-

    • Providing strategic leadership on formulation and implementation of ASAL policy;
    • Coordinating inter-governmental fora and inter-agency collaboration meetings on ASAL;
    • Initiating and approving ASAL research agendas and ensuring implementation of research findings;
    • Spearheading feasibility studies on ASAL development;
    • Providing leadership on monitoring and evaluation of implementation of ASAL programmes and projects;
    • Liaising with other Government organizations and stakeholders on resource mobilization and allocation for accelerated ASAL development;
    • Validating and approving project proposals and periodic progress reports on ASAL issues;
    • Developing and reviewing Arid and Semi-Arid lands policy;
    • Initiating legislative framework for ASALs;
    • Coordinating implementation of Arid and Semi-Arid lands policy; and
    • Providing policy direction.

    For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

    • Served for a minimum period of fifteen (15) years, three (3) of which must be at the grade of Assistant Director, Research and Partnership, CSG 7 and above, or in a comparable and relevant position in wider public service;
    • A Bachelors Degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Entrepreneurship, Development studies, Business Management, Education, Urban and Regional Planning, Economics, Statistics, Project Planning and Management or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya.
    • A Masters Degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Entrepreneurship, Development studies, Business Management, Education, Urban and Regional Planning, Economics, Statistics, Project Planning and Management or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya.
    • Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance.
    • Member of a recognized professional body.
