    Food Loss and Waste in Africa Consultant (Focus country - Kenya)

    What You Will Do

    Research and reporting/dissemination 100%

    • Use best available data, projections, and previous studies on FLW and related socioeconomic data, to demonstrate and inform on the critical points of food loss and food waste for selected value chains, existing gaps in data and policies. Include information on existing tools and methods for assessing food loss and food waste in Kenya.
    • Document the causes of food loss and food waste, including underlying causes, assess available innovations/solutions to tackle the problems and their key limitations.
    • Support the ongoing review and contextualization of the WRI Food loss and food waste protocol to make it fit for purpose for assessing the magnitude of FLW, as well as critical points of food loss and waste along the selected value chains.
    • Provide clear and concise policy recommendations on the reduction of FLW for Kenya.

    What You Will Need

    • Education: You have a completed PhD degree preferably in international development, agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural economics, or related social sciences fields .
    • Experience: You have 8+ years of experience in conducting similar work, backed by deliverables – assignment reports, articles etc. You also have experience in conducting high-level context-based research, including conducting in conducting systematic literature review and primary data collection, and presentation in various tools such as PowerPoint, etc.
    • Languages: Verbal and written proficiency in English required. Knowledge of Swahili is an advantage.
    • Requirements: You must have authorization to work in Kenya. WRI is unable to assist with visa work authorization.
