    Geographical Information System Manager

    Job Purpose:

    Provide leadership in the planning, administration, and management of the GIS laboratory within the County Government of Kisumu.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Oversee the management, resource allocation, and budget of the GIS laboratory.
    • Develop and implement a GIS strategy aligned with the County Government's objectives.
    • Ensure the acquisition, integration, quality control, and maintenance of geospatial data.
    • Collaborate with other departments, clients, and partners to deliver solutions.
    • Use GIS tools for spatial analysis, map creation, and deriving insights.
    • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of GIS data and outputs.
    • Stay informed about relevant regulations and standards related to GIS data and technology.
    • Develop and manage the budget for GIS projects and allocate resources effectively.
    • Maintain thorough documentation of GIS processes, data sources, and project outcomes. Provide regular reports to management and stakeholders.
    • Implement security measures to protect geospatial data and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and find solutions to challenges that may arise during GIS projects.

    Qualifications:

    • Academic: Master’s degree in Survey/Geospatial Engineering, Geomatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry, Project Management, or related fields.
    • Experience: At least 5 years in GIS, Remote Sensing, or Photogrammetry.
    • Professional: Registered member of the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya.
    • Skills: Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, MapInfo), spatial databases, geospatial modeling, strong
    • leadership, project management, communication skills, familiarity with urban and environmental
    • planning, and certification by a recognized GIS institution.
