• Research and collects data through complex techniques and procedures, library research, structured interviews or other project-specific methodology.
• Interprets, synthesizes, and analyses data.
• Schedules, organizes and reports on the status of research activities.
• Plans and modifies research techniques, procedures, tests, equipment, or software management.
• Writes and edits materials for publication and presentation.
• Meets with supervisor regularly to maintain ongoing communication regarding the quality of the assistant’s performance.

• Design, develop, and implement study procedures, including the selection of appropriate methods for identifying study cohorts, creation of datasets for analysis, and ensuring data quality and confidentiality
• Prepare research ethics applications, data sharing agreements, and study progress reports
• Conduct literature searches and maintain citation databases
• Analyse research data, interpret results, prepare manuscripts and presentations
• Prepare policy briefs to disseminate research findings at scientific meetings and conferences
• Prepare journal articles to share research findings at scientific meetings and conferences
• Perform other duties as assigned

Abilities and Attributes

• Subject knowledge and oral/written communication skills to discuss and document research progress.
• Ability to work independently and accurately and to problem solves technical and methodological issues that arise during the research.
• Ability to apply sound research techniques, methodology, and logical critical analysis.
• Superior writing and communication skills, including the ability to contribute to presentations, grant proposals and manuscripts
• Proficiency with appropriate analytic software and tools, SPSS, R-Studio, and Python, in particular
• Ability to work effectively in an inter-disciplinary team environment with minimal supervision
• Strong organization and interpersonal skills
